Mainiac Tri course preview -- this Sunday, Sept. 13th at 7 AM.

The Mainiac is almost here!  This weekend we'll do our last group training before the race.  Join us for a practice run of the entire course, including a 0.25 mi swim, 15 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run!

Swim:  We'll meet in the beach parking lot (see below for more info on parking) at 7:00 am to get suited up.  Shortly after, we'll walk to the swim start and get in the water around 7:15. the course is 0.25 miles.

Bike:  We'll start the bike course after the swim, around 8am.  The bike will be a no-drop ride.  For those not swimming, and only coming for the bike ride, we'll meet in the parking lot by the beach.

Run:  We'll start the run somewhere between 9-9:30am, depending returning from the bike course.

Second bike loop option:  Some people may opt to do a second bike loop, either instead of the run, or after the run.

Parking:  Now that Labor Day is behind us, the preferred parking area will be in the main beach lot, which is now open to anyone!   The parking lot is located off of Gilbert Place (map link here).  If the lot is full, alternate parking areas include (a) 7th street, which has free parking all along one side and beach access at the end of Bay St (map link), or (b) Yates street, where there are three spaces with two hour limits (starting at 8am) across from the library/community center (map link).

Weather:  The current forecast for Sunday is cloudy with a low probability of precipitation. I'll update this thread if the forecast warrants any changes in our plans.

Interested?   If you would like to participate please respond below and let us know so that we have a roster of who to expect.  Please also indicate in your response if you are planning on swimming, biking, running, or all three, or if you are interested in a double bike loop.

Lastly, if you commit to participating but then something comes up and you cannot attend after all please call or text Brian Swalla at 443-207-1364 so that the group knows not to wait for you.  Note that my phone doesn't receive iMessages, so please send a regular SMS or just call if you're unsure!   I will reply to all texts, so if you don't hear back from me, try calling instead.

Hi Brian, I'll be joining in Sunday morning to do the Biathlon run while everyone is swimming, then the bike and 5K. Start the first run about 7:15.

sounds great everyone.  See you on Sunday.

Fingers crossed for the weather.  At this point it still looks like we'll have some clouds and a small chance of rain through the morning.

Hi everyone, just want to confirm that we're still on for tomorrow. Looks like it may be a little damp, but no storms in the forecast.

I'll see you at 7!

Thanks everyone for the nice morning workout and practice run!   Fortunately there was no rain and the roads were pretty much dry... it was a little windy on the bike though!
