Hello everyone,

Galina Hanson and I have been getting together for open water swims in the early morning during the week and it’s been working out really great.   We’re aiming to make this a regular event, and we’re hoping some other people would like to join us!

Our tentative plan is to swim at Pine Point 1x per week, at 6am in the morning on either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the weather.   We picked this time to provide nice spacing with a second outdoor swim on the weekend as part of our swim/bike/run group training events.   Right now we’re aiming to swim at Pine Point because parking is easy (big lot, no fee before 8am), there’s a shower and restrooms, and it’s nice to swim even at low tide.  To change things up a bit, we might also aim to swim at other nearby locations like Spring point (SMCC), Kettle Cove, Ferry Beach (Scarborough), etc.

To entice you I attached a picture of the Pine Point beach snapped today just before we got in the water at 6am.  It was great! J

If you’re at all interested, please post in this thread to let us know.

Hope you can join us!

Brian and Galina

Current plan is to swim this week on wed (8/5) at Pine point beach. We'll meet by the snack shop picnic tables at the parking lot.

Hope to see you there!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to remind everyone that we're getting together for open-water swims once a week in the early morning at Pine Point, and anyone is welcome to join!

We meet at 6am in the main parking lot by Emma's Eats, usually on Wednesday, but sometimes on Tues or Thurs depending on weather.  We get in the water shortly afterward for an approximately 30 minute swim.  Typically, there’s 3-4 of us who attend, and we'll do a range of distances from 0.5 to 1.0 mile.  We start by heading West along the beach for 15 minutes, and then turn around and head back for the same amount of time.  Everyone swims at their own pace and we don’t explicitly stay together, but we do stay in sight of each other.  The water conditions have so-far been great there in the mornings!

Here's our current active swim group:

Brian Swalla
Galina Hanson
Ann Dillon (non IDEXX)
Pat O'Brien
Joe Coppolino
Ryan Cole

Please consider joining us.   If Pine Point is challenging for you, please let me know and we can look into swimming at another location sometime!

Note this week we’re swimming tomorrow (Wed) morning.  Please email me directly if you may be interested in going.

All, we're aiming to swim again this week on Wed morning (9/16).   It's a great chance to get some time in the open water before the Mainiac race next weekend, and the weather and water has consistently been great at Pine Point this summer.

Post below if you're interested in joining!

Really enjoyed the swim this morning and can see why you have stayed with this location for your swim training this summer!  Would encourage more folks to check it out some time (perhaps next season as the water temp is dropping!).  Thanks to all who showed up this morning at dawn :-)
