Trident users,
I wanted to make everyone aware that KITP (Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics) will be hosting an 8-week program on the CGM starting this coming week. In brief, there will be activities every weekday during this period from 8-10AM PST, keynote talks, tutorials, discussion, new results, meet and greet, etc. Obviously, you can choose as much or as little to personally attend. Each week has a different thematic question. Interaction will primarily take place over slack and zoom. We're looking to interact with theorists, observers, and representatives from related fields including FRBs, SZ, X-ray, UV, optical, etc. All are welcome to participate, but you must register on the main KITP website in order to be let into the zoom sessions.
The themed weeks are:
Week 1 (Jan 11-15): How do gaseous halos depend on halo mass?
Week 2 (Jan 19*-22): Why are gaseous halos often multiphase?
Week 3 (Jan 25-28): What roles do non-thermal components play?
Week 4 (Feb 1-5): What does the Milky Way tell us?
Week 5 (Feb 8-12): How does gas flow out of galaxies?
Week 6 (Feb 16*-19): How does gas flow into galaxies?
Week 7 (Feb 22-26): How do gaseous halos affect galaxy evolution
Week 8 (Mar 1-5): What future observations will transform our understanding?
For more information about the program, please see our google document:
I hope you'll consider joining us!
