Not too many people see the importance to differentiate between hard and soft logic when scheduling their programmes, although it is well referenced into PMIs PMBOK and AACEs TCM. Let me explain the concepts in short in order to get deep into the subject I want to deliver.

It is about mandatory logic either contractual or physical. For example, when building a column, everybody knows that formwork comes before pouring concrete, that is a physical condition, and maybe the planner will put a Finish-to-Start link to depict it into the schedule. On the other hand, the contractual logic is acquired from the contract itself and many times is a demand from the owner; let's say the client wants this specific area done before the other one, that need becomes mandatory so the contractor must follow that sequence of work, in other words it is mandatory.

Sometimes referred as preferential or discretionary logic. These are the kind of logic touched by the hand of the planner/scheduler. For example, after accomplish with contract requirements on the schedule, a contractor decides to work on two buildings in parallel because they will give a better usage to their expensive crane, only one building has a contract deadline, but instead building one after another, they prefer to do it at the same time. That is a discretional or called soft logic.

Yes of course, as a planner I prefer to avoid much soft logic in the critical path, if so, that path will be easy influenced to be changed, because during the work decisions could lead us any other way just because it never was mandatory to follow that way.

Now, as a peer reviewer you can turn off hard logic to see only soft logic in order to analyse what the scheduler/planner/contractor has chosen as a path to follow, and it will depend on you to accept, reject or suggest something new for these logics.

With this, the owner could see a more transparent schedule coming from the contractor or the forensic analyst could have a huge help in order to perform his forensic methodology. Differentiating links types could help us in having a more comprehensible schedule for the project team.

I am new to posting here, and wanted to see if there is a list or any feedback on credit unions who may soft pull at membership and provide offers such as Logix or DCU. I am trying to weigh my credit union options without piling up the inquiries

I am looking for a generous credit union with good customer service, and instant or quick lending decisions, as my credit is excellent, and I'd like to get this done before I head to vacation end of next week.

Not that I know of. From experience, I know of several that do give you preapprovals. You have to be careful because some of them call selected to apply preapprovals. I dislike the ones that do that. Alliant is one of them and so is Xcel FCU. Both have some products I like. Their preapprovals aren't one of them.

State Department Federal credit union will send you preapprovals. The nonsecured loans are solid but the CC offers aren't. Navy Federal sometimes pulls this as well with a promotion code. They aren't solid either. Penfed will have them displayed in your account. From the data here, theirs are pretty solid.

Thank you. I have seen some such as RBFCU, DCU and Logix saying you're prequalified for these offers when you apply for membership. Tower Fcu as well. Just trying to minimize my hard inquiries if possible.

I'm not sure what you mean by "call selected to apply preapprovals" - can you give an example of what that means? I just started a membership with Alliant, and so far I'm pleased with them. I intend to use the SSL to prepare for an auto loan in the coming year. Don't know about cards yet. Should I worry?

What I'm referring to is, the email will state your pre-approved for a card. When in fact you're just pre- selected to apply for the card. I equate pre-approved as a solid offer. Unfortunately some lenders use it as bait for you to apply with no solid offer.

I like Alliant's SSL and bank account set-up. I know from experience their preapprovals are nothing more than pre-selected offers. Similar to those that you receive in the mail. Nothing to worry about. I opted out of their invitations because I was always receiving emails with a fake pre-approval code to apply.

If you want to apply for a card with them. Let it be one of your first apps. They are very conservative.

IMHO there are better cards available from other lenders as well as better auto loan rates.

DCU, PENFED and Bethpage normally beat the other large CUs in the auto loan area from my research.

Ah okay, I see what you mean. Yeah, I've seen this too - my husband's been getting "you're pre-selected" for an "invitation to apply" snail mail regarding the Chase Southwest card. When I read the fine print, there's nothing about pre-approval. Given his current credit numbers and types of offers he's receiving, I doubt he'd qualify for any Chase card yet. I suspect he's getting this mail because he's flown Southwest lately. (So have I, and I've gotten no offers, and I DO have a Chase card, but be that as it may... bah.)

I open SoftLogix and configure a CPU and Ethernet module. I then cannot open RSLinx GUI since RSLinx is already running as a service. I stop the service, which automatically removes my CPU from SoftLogix but does allow me to open RSLinx GUI. However I cannot connect to the Softlogix now since it has no PLC. When I try and add a CPU I get a message that RSLogix must be run as a service. However in that situation I cannot open the GUI.

I'm supposing that you're not able to open the GUI because the RSLinx icon doesn't show in the taskbar in Windows 7. I suggest to make a copy of the shortcut, edit it and add the command line: /service in the Target field.

The MC Conttrol comes up as you would expect but there's no soft keys coming up with Logic X. They are with Safari etc but not Logic X. Manual seems to suggest that you just plug it in and it all works fine. Is there anything I should be doing? I have the latest release on the MC Control and have updated the firmware to the latest level as well.

Ok I've done it. the file was under SQRL on that Library/Euphonix on my Mac. I made a copy of the Logic Pro file and then renamed it Logic Pro X.xml ( with a space between Pro and the "X" and it's come up and is working.

I had LP9 installed. To use its Logic Pro.xml it is located in /Library/Application Support/Euphonix/SQRL I then copied and renamed this file into /Library/Application Support/Euphonix/UserSets/MC2User as Logic Pro X.xml

I use the crossover ethernet cable that was included to the package and download the latest software from the AVID site EuControl Software 3.1 . Also updated the Artist Control Firmware to latest 1.3.5 firmware.

At EuControl Settings, in the first tab there is a surface MC Control available and I add this to "My Surfaces". The same on tab "Workstations" I can see my workstation, added to "My Workstations" and make it attached. I didn't change any other parameter. Now the Artist Control show on the monitor my workstation name and the name of its program that I use. Right now it shows Google Chrome.

But there is a problem. When I open the Logic Pro X, I can see the name of the program on the Artist Control monitor but the controller doesn't work. After many tries and reboots I return to default settings, make a reboot and suddenly everything works fine. I open the Logic Pro X and the controller works! Every button works fine. I load many projects without any problem. That was last night. After that I shutdown the Mac for the night and the morning the problem is here again. Everything is just I describe previously. It works only for one night.

Following the path /Library/Application Support/Euphonix/SQRL/ I found both the Logic Pro.xml and Logic Pro X.xml files, having the same size, 158 kb. I make a backup to both of them and I delete the Logic Pro.xml file. Reboot and nothing happened. Also I put the Logic Pro.xml file, delete the Logic Pro X.xml, rename the Logic Pro.xml to Logic Pro X.xml and nothing happened again...

" I have done the upgrades and its working fine. I have had no end of problems in the past with the Avid units dropping IP addresses but I can solve that now as well without going to static IP addresses on Logic 9 but as far as LPX is concerned it's all working fine on mine but here's a few tips

2. Make sure that the EUcon apps are shown in the Eucon preferences that you find in the system preferences, if not just drag them into it from the Applications section and they should show up. You may need to highlight the Eucontrol to Stop and then restart if it fails.

To be honest I've had far fewer problems with Avid since then. Occasionally the MC Control or Mix has not come up straight away but the stop start process in the system preferences/Eucon has always cleared it. I also switch each unit on with a gap of a minute between each. I am still using dynamic IP addressing as well.
