The "Textes de Franais Ancien" (TFA) database was established under the direction of Pierre Kunstmann at the Laboratoire de Franais Ancien (LFA, University of Ottawa), in collaboration with Mark Olsen (University of Chicago), who hosts and processes the data on the ARTFL Project server. The original collection was composed of texts from the 12th and 13th centuries, digitized for the preparation of a lemmatized database of Old French (project in collaboration with the former Institut National de la Langue Franaise, now ATILF). Middle French texts (14th and 15th centuries) have been added to this collection subsequently. The database is expanded regularly. This version (Januray 2003) is the second update, an addition of 23 new documents, i.e. about 1 051 363 word occurrences (approximately, because a number of reference marks would have to be substracted). The base has now a total of about 3 014 389 word occurrences. We favoured, for this update, the works of Chrtien de Troyes (his 5 romances can now be searched) and Guillaume d'Orange's epic cycle (possibility of queries on 8 chansons).
The texts are transcribed as accurately as possible. No corrections have been made; but some emendations are suggested in square brackets ("l." after a first square bracket means "read as"). References are to the pages of the editions or to the folios of the manuscripts. In the documents with line numbers, there may be sometimes a slight difference with the numbering of the editions, due to inconsistencies in the editions.
A bibliography (look for a more complete version on the LFA Web site accompanies the texts; some dates have been modified in a way that might surprise users: in order to allow searches by year or date range, only numerical digits could be used. Thus changes were made to the dates, such as "1350" for "ca. 1350"; "1350" for "14th century"; "1300" for "Beginning of 14th century"; "1399" for "End of 14th century". The list is divided into two parts: first the anonymous works; secondly the texts with known authors. The works are classified by authors alphabetical order; in case of a preposition or an article, contrary to the usual way, the list is established according to the third noun element; thus "Gautier de Coinci" is classified under "Coinci" and "Jean le Marchant" under "Marchant". The works under copyright are marked with an asterisk in the bibliography; in this case, words are shown in a more limited context.
To facilitate the search, we decided to put systematically on the LFA site a gross index of each of the TFA texts; some are already on the site, the rest will follow soon. One can also find on the site a few lemmatized indexes. For some texts moreover, on can read notices (explanations and commentaries) written by May Plouzeau (Universit de Provence).
We want to thank all the colleagues who gave us texts they recently transcribed or edited: Larry Crist (Vanderbilt University), Ineke Hardy (LFA), Aurlie Kostka (Universit de Nancy II), May Plouzeau (Universit de Provence). We are also grateful for the careful work of the students, either as assistants or on a voluntary basis, who helped us to prepare this update: Rachel Jobin, Helena Kogen, Myriam Legault, Teva Vidal (LFA) and Stphane Douard (ARTFL).

The call for project proposals seeks to encourage field-based actions founded on holistic approaches which uphold the intrinsic links between the three health - human health, animal health (both domestic and wildlife) and the health of ecosystems (land, aquatic and marine) in the assembly of projects, primarily targeting environmental issues.
Initiators for eligible projects: The call for proposals is open to legal persons which the FFEM can support within the scope of its mandate: civil society organisations, governments, local authorities and communities, public institutions, research bodies, the private sector, foundations, international organisations.
Geographical area: Eligible countries are all those listed as recipients of publicly-funded development assistance via the OECD DAC, with priority given to the African continent.
Multi-country and regional projects are eligible.

In effect, through this call for project proposals, the FFEM hopes to particularly support projects tackling the issue of pollution reduction, a cross-cutting topic that strongly impacts on the challenges of ecosystems, human and animal health as well as on the climate, and so deliver a holistic response to the Triple Plantary Crisis (climate, biodiversity and pollution).
According to the OECD definition (Oslo Manual, 2005), there can be innovation in terms of products, processes, organisation or deployment, in particular in relation to public policy and financing. Innovation can be radical or progressive and must be recognised as such, beyond a simple invention. It thus forms part of the process of change that it triggers.
For the FFEM, the innovative nature of a project can be assessed only in the light of specific analysis of the project and/or of the local area, on the basis of the geographical, socio-economic, political, institutional, and ecological context, and the innovative way in which the project envisages triggering change to benefit the environment and sustainable development.
The Synchrocube project aims to provide a complementary solution to navigation systems (GNSS: GALILEO; GPS) in order to provide synchronization functions when GNSS navigation signals are unusable . Synchrocube is part of the French space recovery plan. The main goal is to test this service, using a first satellite placed in low orbit.
Syrlinks is at the initiative of this innovative offer and will provide both the payload and the ground receiver necessary to provide this service. Synchrocube brings together several innovative technologies within a single 6U nanosatellite platform. U-Space, ANYWAVES, COMAT and Syrlinks, 4 French companies specializing in NewSpace are joining forces to promote their respective skills around this project.
