Thats pretty much it, all updates installed and app just closes, no pop up from windows or adobe, it just disappears. Working on a project its being a serious challenge, any click seems to be a potential trigger for this situation (drag and drop, adding effects, etc.). Has anyone encounter such a situation? is there something im not seeing?
I am having the same issue. After Effects just seems to close without warning after about 10-15 minutes of start-up. I went to check out the logs to see if it was there but there is no log to be seen. I was wondering if there was a fix to this? I already uninstalled and reinstalled completely and there has been no change.
I am pretty sure the closing issue is related to the Creative Cloud Desktop App logout problems. I just found out that this application Glasswire interfered with Creative Cloud. So this is what I did:

I am also having this issue. I don't have my computer on me but in my situation the error pops up upon opening the app. The app fully loads and then the error pops up. It's different than normal errors. It's much bigger (like in the image above). It actually looks a lot like the creative cloud splash screen that pop's up when you are not logged into your CC account. Makes me also think it has to do with CC log-in's or something.
Exact same problem here. Mac OS X: Yesterday fine - today error 205 when launching After Effects. Other Adobe products open fine. I've tried the anti-virus, alternate network approaches. Tried re-installing creative cloud desktop app and after effects.
All i did was go to Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware and i disconnected the headphones i was using, after it it was fine and running and i've connected them again and it's all going smooth : ). THIS IS CORRECT
I have been facing same problem. Nothing seemed to solve it. But I got it done by the most immature try "RESTART". Yes, I just restarted the AfterEffects and the Spacebar worked fine. Hope this helps

Adobe should really work on bugs like this.. Small problems like these happened to me in almost every adobe app and it just kills your workflow.....
Hello I have been using After effects 2015.3. When I was rigging my character the warning come up I tried to click ok untill it gone. After that I moved the puppet tool the program crashes and shut my computer down. It happened when I'm moving the puppet tool. I through it because of my computer RAM but I already add more RAM yesterday now I have 16 GB. My laptop window is window 10. I would like to know how can I fixed this problem?
Same thing here. When using my customized workspace, the error occurs. Switching to the standard one and everything works. I agree, it's extremely annoying. It started after I purged all memory & disk cache.
[EDIT] I created a new workspace, deleted it, tried to select another one and AE gave a pop-up error, telling me workspace.xml wasn't valid, that he would use a backuped file instead. All I could do is click "Proceed" and so far, the previews are working.
In fact I was working on a job for 2 weeks now and I reorganized my workplace. It has been working without any problems. So yesterday I switched off my computer, today I switch it on and vioala "unspecified drawing error" is back. No, there was no Win updates downloaded in fact any updates, unless my computer woke up secretly tonight and decided to do so.
If you want them to fix issues, it would also be quite beneficial to file bug reports with as much detail as possible so that they can try to recreate the bug issue on their end (and let them know if you can provide crash logs, corrupted workspace files, etc.). It's the best way to get your issue in front of the eyes of the actual After Effects team. Granted, they usually don't respond to individual bug reports, but they do read them and fix the bugs.
I'm on a new machine at work, getting same issue during RAM preview (WI 10 machine, with latest AE update). This is super annoying, and resetting to the "standard" workspace is not an acceptable solution. I hope Adobe is monitoring this issue.
You can be sure that they are by filing a bug report at this link. It goes right to the Adobe After Effects team. Like, it goes to a human who actually works on After Effects who reads it, logs it, and puts it into the list (the more reports/severity, the higher up the priority list it goes, by the way, so anyone who can't fix this issue should file a report too). The bug report/feature request form is the best way to get issues to their attention. Provide as much detail as you can so they can hopefully recreate the issue on their end in one of their test machines. You can't fix what you can't see! (Well, sometimes you can, but it's really hard.)
Hopefully it comes in the form of AE working properly in a future update! However, since I'm just a user like you, you have my thanks, but I can't give you much else. If you're anywhere near Nashville, TN, I could buy you a beer or something.

And yet another bug, killing my workflow. Ive spent more time troubleshooting AE during the last few weeks than I have spent on making stuff! I have resisted it for so long, but Fusion, Inkscape, Gimp etc here I come. F*** you Adobe.
I already moved to Fusion, Davinci and when it comes to mograph, there isn't anything that I cant do in C4D. I very much understand your final statement. It is ridiculous that after every update I have new errors with AE and zero solution for years.
Hello! I had the exact same problem and I finally found a solution. I'm not sure if you're using an Apple or a Windows device, but try to press ctrl+alt+shift when starting After Effects, if you did so correctly it will ask you if you want to delete the preferences file, and you definitely want to get rid of that one. After that it should work perfectly fine again!
I'm in the same boat as the original poster. I'm on a PC and have been running AE with no issues up until now. I'm also getting the error "Standard 3D module is missing" and then a message the software can't open. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software a few times now, I've made sure that windows and my video drivers are all up to date. The funny thing is that it works on my wife's account which is a "Standard Account" but not on my account that is set to admin. So this must be some kind of account bases issue. I hope someone can help resolve this issue.

I have solved this.
You can use this method if you're problem isn't solved by just pressing and holding the ctrl+alt+shift while opening the after effect.
The solution is:
First, go to the directory where the After effect is installed and look if there a folder of any previous version of the adobe after effect first uninstall it and again look in the Programm file-> adobe
if there still a folder left of the old version delete it manually.
Thank Uninstall the after effect current version which has the problem
again look into the Programm file-> adobe
If there still a folder left of adobe after effect delete it till there will be no folder left of after effect.
Then reinstall the after effect.
After the software is installed.
Press the window button and while pressing the ctrl+alt+shift open the after effect hold the keys till you see a dialogue box to remove the previous preferences.
I have been trying to use Adobe after effects but i kept getting that error. I have updated my intel UHD 620 graphic driver through my device manager to the latest version on the server. I have also downloaded the driver available on the adobe website but I'm getting an error that the driver is not for my system that i should contact my manufacturer. Please what should i do?
