Spring Greetings!
Good news! Mercury (planet of communications) is going out of retrograde (backwards orbit) next week - although, be cautious as it still "sits & spins" until May 1. Recheck, double check communications, eletronics can break down, delays, set backs, unpleasant news. Remember: the darkest hour is just before the dawn. The dawn is coming! We're almost at the end of the dark tunnel!
Some more good news! A MAGI has been Rocking/Raking with theme park, college, corporate events. Plus on April 30, 3pm, we'll be performing at Festival Bay Mall for it's annual World Dance Day (& it's last as FBM will be closing, tearing down & rebuilding!)
New Classes too! I'll be teaching this Wednesday, April 20 6pm HOT HOT HOT Afro-Brazilian Samba style dance ($12 or class card RSVP) at the A MAGI Temple for a fun, exhilerating cardio workout & future opportunities to perform with our upcoming Samba group if interested. More Samba classes will be scheduled in the future. This class follows are 4:45pm Beginners GODDESS Belly Dance. (Other beginners classes in Classical Oriental Belly Dance & Bellyrobics that I teach are on Mondays 6:30 pm (NEW CLASS!!); Saturdays 10:30 am. Cat teaches Tuesday 7pm plus her Tribal Classes are listed below!)
Divine Dance Camp will begin again on Saturday, May 7 - TEACHER CERTIFICATION (or recertification) in the A MAGI Method I've developed over these past 39 years! Class starts at 1pm $75. (includes my instructional DVD or $65 if you already have. It's a must for belly dance teachers to ensure proper placement/posture/alignment/positions, warm up stretches, isolations/isometric exercises, slow movement & faster movement execution. As a Master Instructor in this dance form, I'm amazed at how many people teach & shouldn't & that they are putting students at physical risk by doing so. You will gain a wealth of information on how to teach properly, but also how to motivate your students. Anyone who teaches at A MAGI Temple, must be certiifed as well.
JUNE 4 will be our next Belly Boot Camp! Save the date!! Not only will we have awesome instructors working you out & teaching you the latest & greatest, but I will be teaching: BE A STAR! Learn to put together professional dance show, learn professional biz & ethics!
As you know, I traveled to New York City from a United Arts grant recently (with Aziena too) to study again with my mentors (mostly dancers from the late, great Ibrahim Farrah's Near East Dance Group) and implementing the material in classes. Look for more workshops coming in the future with this awesome material on Classical Oriental lyrical style dance, Amazing Shimmies & Hip Work, Mid-East Folkloric dance styles. Currently, I am being scheduled for national workshops!
Looks like we will not be sponsoring Kaeshi of Bellyqueen this year as she has committed herself to a number of events in Florida which will hamper us from breaking even - maybe another year. So, we're now talking to a couple of others to come our way & share their wealth of dance knowledge. Look for upcoming information on workshops/shows with Mohamed Shahin of Egypt who studied & performs with well-known & Master Mahmoud Reda! Plus others have been contacted for other upcoming dates as well!
