This is OT, but interesting, I think.

If not for you, then consider any of your friends in the arts
community, particularly curators, art teachers, and gallery owners.

When I came up with this idea, it was accepted instantly by the
Monterey Museum of Art... which is a real museum, not a commercial
gallery. Curator; boards; committees etc. They loved it. No written
proposal needed. Process for the Riff-Art show is already underway,
with a tentative date already set.

Point is: it's a good idea.

Visit the site to learn what Riff-Art is.... and please share the URL.

Thanks for your time. We will now return you to your regularly
scheduled programming.

Hi,

I've just stumbled across a NYT article about YooStar (http://www.nytimes.com).  I can only read it with my (free) password, but the article's entitled "Hollywood’s Great Scenes, Starring You" and it's by David Pogue, in case you'd like to search for it.

I'm afraid it gives the product a bit of a "panning", but if you read it you'll see why.

Just in case anyone is interested...

What's with the YooStar thing? Is it something Tribalmedia is involved
with? What's the connection with iShell?

On May 1, Matt wrote:

TM has been working with a large client, YooStar, on the development
of a system that utilizes our new engine. From the YooStar website:
Yoostar Unveils Revolutionary Social Entertainment System Allowing
Users to Experience Starring in their Favorite Movie Scenes Together
with the Original Actors - http://www.yoostar.com

If we can remove an actor from a video and replace the actor with
you, imagine what we can do with your media! The capabilities of the
new engine are quite amazing.

Does this mean the next iShell will be a movie machine? No! YooStar
is just one application of our engine. As in the past, we will build
a highly effective user interface for developing media rich
interactive presentations.

So, what about now? We are working on iShell 5 and hope to release it
in Summer 2009. iShell 5 will be the last feature release of iShell.
Maintenance and bug releases will be provided as needed after the
release. This release will bridge the gap to our future products.

What about Snow Leopard. Is iShell compatible?

good question... I'll give it a go...

part one.... the discs I've made continue to function. I've not done a
scrub-thorough test, but so far all the movies play; the hot points
and database work; some fancy tricks work....

part two... a quick test of the editor indicates it will continue to
work.

But this is just a cursory scan thru.... YMMV.

Thanks for doing that Tracy!  If only we knew whether or not Windows 7 will break it. :)

Wanna bet? I'm giving 20-1 that W7 kills it... Any takers? :-)

I really hope this new "iShell 5" supports Windows 7 - to me that will be SO much more critical than any additional VISTA support.

Reason I asked about SL is that my project works fine but my editor turned into a question mark on my dock. My subscription was up (and no one has called to renew me—no problem since I'm between thrusts) But I couldn't test the editor to see if it still worked. I was relieved that the new QT 10 didn't kill my project. That was my big concern.

Thanks for checking Tracy. Have a pleasant holiday weekend, all.

The question mark just means the dock can't find it.
