I am working through my launcher issue and in doing so - I found this that I keep having pop up.

I keep getting the error, "Application could not be opened because license is wrong."

Basically I have an older version of the runtime that is trying to run an .xp file that is saved in a newer version of iShell.  I think the runtime is from version 4.0 and the .xp file was originally 4.0 but just saved as 4.5.

Is this what creates this issue?  Is there any way for me to get around it at all or will newer .xp files simply not work with older runtimes?  This is only an issue because my updater works through iShell serving an .xp file that is ON my server - while the runtime is on their computer.  So I can't update the runtime without them running the XP to run the updater.

I know that's confusing - just didn't know if there was a trick I could change in the .xp file to fool it and let it load?

Thanks!
-Brian

Brian,

A ver 4.5 .xp will not run in a 4.0 runtime. You have a viscous circle happening. Best to stick with the same ver of RT and .xp if at all possible. That said, the .xd files are all fine in 4.0 and 4.5

I have a similar project where both the RT and the .xp live on the server. But the process for updating the RT is separate from the process for updating the .xp file. It was 2 custom windows scripts: 1 to check for QT and check the RT version installed vs the version on the server; and 1 that downloads the .xp on each launch. It was not too bad for the windows Active X/.net programmer who did it, but beyond my scope. I knew where we wanted to go and then someone else got us there.

So, not sure that helps much... can you stick with ver 4.0? Or do a manual update of the RT?

Hi Gil,

Thanks for the clarification - I will try to make it work from my end.
