Handball Players,
I hope I am not spamming your inboxes today, but I wanted to explain an opportunity to send a kid to camp before the YMCA campaign ends.
In short, the Y raises money every year to put kids from low-income housing neighborhoods into YMCA programs. It’s a pledge campaign for next year, so all I need to know is if you want to get on board with one of the options below.
I have been discussing it with Kyle, and I am hoping that by next year we can offer some sort of "handball scholarship" for one kid ($1000-1500). This would really raise awareness for handball. In addition I am going to be offering some time to volunteer to teach these kids handball for an hour a week or so. This is the kind of programming your donation will fund. Examples of costs are listed below and can be broken down into quarterly, or monthly payments if that works better. Unless you want to submit a donation to clear in time for 2014 taxes, there are a couple of different options listed below on how you can fulfill your pledge next year.
$114 ($28.50/Q, $9.50/month): One child receives one week of Youth Sports Camp
$135: One child receives one week of Swim Camp
$140: One child receives one week of Camp Grace
$147: One child receives one week of transportation, meals and staff at a summer camp
$260: One child receives one year of the YMCA NC Youth & Government program
$422: One adult receives 12 weeks of Livestrong at the YMCA (program for cancer survivors)
$1,101: One teen receives one year of a leadership program
$1,475: One child receives one year in an after school tutoring program
$1,853: One child receives one year of after school care/programs
$1,941: One child receives one year of mentoring and literacy development
We will be holding Three tournaments between now and the end of the 2015 cycle. If you attend all three tournaments you will have donated ~$30* to the campaign as an individual. I am hoping that this totals between $1000-$1800 as a group.
There are two** ways to give.
ONE: Face to Face
If you want to pledge in person and live in the Raleigh area, l am happy to meet you somewhere to fill out the forms and collect the payment
Payment: Checks can be made to the YMCA We Build People
TWO: Online.
Go here and fill out the online form, be sure to put Alexander YMCA and my name as the campaigner.
**Three: attend three handball tournaments. *haven't decided what percentage of proceeds to give to Y vs Handball club, depends on how many people attend the tournaments and donate directly to one or the other.
Don’t hesitate to pass, but I just thought I’d give you a heads up. I will also be calling some of you to see if you are willing to make a direct contribution.
Cheers,
David Bednar
