That's a nice website--someone put a LOT of work into it!

By the way, Mudge--you mentioned that it's been a while since you were
active on the air. Did you ever work 30 meters? It's a nice band
with the solar flux on the low side. Here on the east coast, in the
early evening, there are bunches of Europeans and Caribbean stations,
and it's occasionally open to the Middle East and Africa. Lots of
fun!

I meant, btw, that maybe the WARC bands (30, 17, and 12) weren't around when you were active. Sorry if that was unclear.

I worked Mauretania last night on 40 ... I don't get on 40 very often, but Mauretania was a new one for me and I was pretty darned pleased with myself. That should have been #212 worked, by my mental count, but my logger (an MS-Access database) told me I had 213 countries worked, not 212.

Took me a while to realize what the discrepancy was. I worked a nice guy with a W8 call operating portable /GJ on 30 meters earlier in the evening. It wasn't until I went over the logs for a bit that I realized Jersey was ALSO a new one for me. :-) I've had GU and GD for a long long time--didn't realize I'd never worked a GJ before! Nice surprise, eh?

Mudge, are you SURE you don't want a simple little CW rig to play with? ;-)

I got a used 10-meter yagi over the weekend. :-) Three elements on an 8-foot boom. Only have it up 18 feet so far, but I worked a guy in the South Cook Islands on 10m CW with it. I could only barely hear him on the dipole but with the beam, he was a couple of S-units stronger, and I worked him on the first call. :-> Tribander at 60 feet next? ;-)

Nope - spent most of my time on 80 checking the nets - or 40 with the
rag chewers - or 20 trying to catch some DX, or 10 doing the same, or
2 chewing the rag with the local experimenters (in my day, with golden
grid diodes and walnut tubes, thats all there were up there)
