What do you mean hypocrite? Are you saying Helms should not hire
queers because of his opinion of their behavior? If anything
Helms made a statement to all you liberals (which the news would
never point out) that even though he is against homosexual behavior,
he doesn't care what his employees do. You see BB, Jesse's smarter
than you give him credit for, which is why he will be re-elected.
Your logic would be like this - All companies that now offer homo-
sexual partners full benefits should only hire people who agree
with this policy. I don't think these companies would last very long
with this attitude, do you?
If you want to point fingers at hypocrites, then point one at
Finkelstein. For he is the one that is disappointing his gay
followers. But again, Finkel seems to be a smart man. After all, he
is the one cruising around Ipswich, Mass in a Rolls Royce.

Views expressed are my opinions and

Jessie also had one of the initial key figures in the Civil Rights
move on his staff. I don't recall the first name, <something> Meridith,
but I still recall seeing this person on the news narrated by Huntley
and Brinkley taking birdshot to the head. (Obviously, not the 00 stuff.)

I agree. But then again, Jessie signed on to support the Constitution.
I'll meet you halfway. Both get front seats in Hell, but Jessie has to
lean forward.

If not hypocritical, it's is at least puzzling as hell. Let's
phrase it in plain English. "I will stand up in front of the world,
vote against, and use every procedural tactic I can think of, to
fight funding to Aids research, make numerous speeches and comments
against homosexuals but I don't have the slightest problem if
a homosexual works for me." Sounds like Hitler putting David Ben
Gurion on his staff of closet advisers.

Actually, I would go with the implimentation and enforcement of such a
policy. But your analogy doesn't quite work. What you mean is that
that all companies that have such a policy make sure all members of
their management team either agree with the policy or have no comment,
and with the latter, make sure they never show any evidence of acting
upon their personal beliefs.
> I don't think these companies would last very long

I don't know if they would or not. Ben & Jerry's seems to be doing fine.

We agree. A pox upon those that cozy up to idealogical enemies for the
sake of a dollar.

He may have a Rolls Royce, but if what I have read is true, he
doesn't have my respect.

Whoa!! I didn't catch this until the last moment. Let me give you a
real quick course in the use of computing equipment owned by your
employer. While your current manager or the current manager of IS
may not care, if push comes to shove, Nortel is responsible for your
opinions and you can be terminated and Nortel sued. Chances are that
the lawsuit will not be fruitful, but Nortel will have already covered
their butt by giving you the heave ho.
I strongly recommend to all those that really want to post and really
want to excercise their First Amendment rights, you acquire your own
access and post from there.
I love debating/flaming folks that have different views than my own, but
I would hate to see anybody get fired for saying something that somebody
of a less curmudgeony(sp) nature would complain about.
I'm not sure about front row seats, but I do envision shackles and a
ball gag for herr Helms.
