CMPD said once the car came to a stop in the University City area of
Charlotte, five teens jumped out of the car and ran into a nearby wooded
area.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested five teenagers
Thursday in connection to a string of crimes, including armed robbery
and stolen vehicles.

Reportedly four different divisions across Charlotte had to coordinate
to arrest the suspects who range in age from 14 to 16 years old. CMPD
said they are connected to at least 84 charges around Charlotte before
being arrested.

Police claim one of the suspects was driving a white Dodge Charger that
was suspected to be involved in a shooting. CMPD said around 2 p.m.,
detectives spotted the car and tried to get them to stop, however, the
driver didn't stop.

CMPD launched its helicopter to help pursue the car on I-485. The police
said once the car came to a stop in the University City area of
Charlotte near Back Creek Church Road, five teens jumped out of the car
and ran into a nearby wooded area. However, police were able to
apprehend all five.

Authorities said when they seized the vehicle, they also found a stolen
firearm. Police said they have linked three of the five suspects to many
car break-ins around the city. Those three have been charged with armed
robbery, multiple charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and numerous
charges of felony larceny. One of those three also faces two charges of
assault with a deadly weapon and six charges of vehicle breaking and
entering. The other two teens were both charged with multiple charges of
stolen vehicle possession and felony larceny.

"Great work by all of our officers and detectives involved taking repeat
offenders off the streets and solving multiple cases in the process,"
CMPD posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter,
on Friday.

The identity of the teens is not being released due to their age.
