We have a very shady front yard on a small hill. Therefore all of the
nutrients seem to wash away and nothing lives...well except the wild onions
and mushrooms! We're thinking of putting down some sod, but the big tree
might need to come down because I think it's taking the few remaining
nutrients! We probably need grading too. We really need a good landscaper
to help us out. Please make recommendations! I want a beautiful yard this
year!

Thanks in advance.

I am a horticulturalist and amateur landscape designer, and have over 20 years
gardening experience. My husband is a landscape architect, but I'm the one
with the plant knowledge. I also work with my friend and partner, Jere, who
took plant i.d. classes with me at NC State -- so there's lots of plant
knowledge and experience to draw from. I charge $50 for an intial one hour
evaluation visit (including travel time) and can work anywhere in the triangle.
I'm in North Raleigh, where are you?
I am sure we can solve your problem, there are lots of plants that will grown
in the shade, including ground covers etc. Sod will not grow in the shade so
don't even bother with that. You can call me at 919-870-5575 (work) or
518-1298 (home) to arrange to get together.
Have a great day,
Lynn Thomas
