I want to share with everyone a new German restaurant in Cary. It is
called the Bavarian Brathaus. It is located at the corner of Tryon Rd
and Cary Parkway. I believe it is associated with the Brathaus in
Sanford/Carthage for those who have visited those locations. Prices
range from $5 strudel to $23 for schnitzel (9 different types). They
have 8 beers on tap, all German. Beer is available by the liter as
well as half liter. They have been open a couple of weeks. They
haven't done much advertising or had a grand opening yet as they are
still waiting on their outside signage to be completed. The front is
easily identified however as a large German and American flag eagerly
greet you at the entrance.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch this past Friday. We both had the
burgermeister platter which consisted of 2 home-made brats served on a
German roll (brotchen), mashed potatoes, and a side of sauerkraut.
With the bratwurst you have a choice of traditional, cheese, fire,
spinach, curry, and garlic. We sampled the traditional, cheese,
spinach and garlic. All were very good. As someone who's bratwurst
knowledge doesn't go much past Johnsonville, my taste buds were
impressed. The mashed potatoes were standard fare but good, and I
even liked the sauerkraut, and I generally don't like sauerkraut.
Even the provided mustard had a nice creamy kick. The brotchen is a
large sub like roll that the brats are served on and was enjoyable as
well. The beers consumed were Warsteiner Dunkel and a Hefeweizen,
both draft. Both half liters and both enjoyably tasty. Service was
attentive and the plate presentation was above average as well. I
will definitely be returning to sample the remaining draft beers,
schnitzels, and schweinshaxe (reserve a day ahead).

Tab: 2 burgermeister platters ($13 each), and 2 half liter draft
beers plus tax: just under $37

According to my take home menu they are open 7 days a week and accept
reservations. Restaurant is located in the Wellington Place / Lowes
food shopping center adjacent to another nice restaurant named Mythos
that I also highly recommend. The Brathaus is in the space formerly
occupied by Ever Which Way, formerly J. Gilberts Wood Fired Grill.

We tried the Bavarian Brathaus today for lunch. If you are looking for
Authentic German food, you've found it! We also had the burgermeister
platter, but started off with the Goulash Soup. It was simply
fabulous.

They also have a dinner menu with schnitzels, sauerbrauten, and other
German specialties.

We plan to try them again. The food was excellent.

Cheers,

We've been twice and have really enjoyed the food both times. Their service
is still spotty(more than one friend has commented as well) and our waiter
Saturday was just plain horrible. They're also a bit expensive, so this
isn't a daily lunch deal, but the flavors are fantastic.

OMG, I love this place. The food is just incredible. Service seems
to have the usual minor "just opened" issues, but I think it will be
fine overall. I've already been there 5 times since they opened.
Between me or my dining partners, I've sampled just about everything
on the menu. Everything has been fabulous -- with the exception of
the Gulasch soup, which is a little bland. Mine is better! ;-)
