Hey Frisbee folks-

Bear with me while I spam the listserv (thanks and apologies).

If anyone wants to go for a nice little run around a beautiful campus (yes, UNC is beautiful, you can't deny it), get some delicious food, a sweet T-shirt, and earn my undying gratitude, all that can be yours for the low, low entry fee of $10 to the UNC Sport Clubs' Race for a Reason this Saturday morning at 9 am, starting and ending in front of the Ram's Head Rec Center.

Race for a Reason is our annual charity 5k that I've been organizing and the beneficiary this year is a fantastic group called Be Active North Carolina, and, even more specifically, their Just Push Play program which is a statewide school intervention program that assists elementary and middle schools in providing exercising opportunities for students, teachers and staff.

The program’s objective is to change school culture so that physical activity is the norm, not the exception (and believe me, it has become very much the exception). Through the program, Be Active North Carolina’s experts will help school communities develop a school wellness committee and create a comprehensive plan to integrate physical activity into the daily routines of students, teachers, and administrators.

Registration is online at: http://www.sportoften.com/events/eventDetails.cfm?pEventId=6173 and it's only $10!

I'm really excited to be working with Be Active NC and to be able to fund these services at some lower income triangle schools. (sidenote: if you or your child is involved in a school where you think this program could make a difference, please let me know!)

For more information on Be Active NC or their Just Push Play program please visit: http://www.beactivenc.org/

Thanks for bearing with me, I hope some of you will follow in the footsteps of a number of our local leaders like Troy and Christian and Kennedy  who have already signed up (even if you can't or don't actually want to run).
