Regional organizing conference to stop FBI and grand jury repression of antiwar activists
On
Saturday February 19, the Triangle Committee to Stop FBI Repression
will be hosting an important conference in Durham, exact location and times to be announced soon. We will be hosting
some of the activists who had their homes raided and property seized by
the FBI. We will be bringing together about 80-100 activists from Alabama,
Georgia, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and across the South to
discuss how we can build the movement to stop the FBI attacks on the
antiwar and solidarity movements.
We are reaching out to you for your participation and support in
this effort. At this point we are working out details for the conference
but would like to know as early as possible if you can RSVP for the
conference. Please e-mail ncst...@gmail.com to let us know if you plan to attend and if you are interested to help us pull this together. We will have a registration form ready early this week.
We are seeking co-sponsors to help put on this conference. Please let us know as soon as possible if your organization is willing to co-sponsor. Co-sponsorship means:
- A commitment from your organization to help promote this event over your listservs and/or website
- Political endorsement of the issue, which is to stop FBI and grand jury repression of antiwar and solidarity activists
- Optional: if your group can make a donation of $50-$100 to help with costs of the conference, it would be very helpful!
We hope that you will be able to attend this important conference!

Anti-war activism and international solidarity are not crimes
Join us for the regional organizing conferences to push back against
the government repression that has been unleashed on anti-war and
international solidarity activists.
On September 24, 2010, the FBI raided homes in Minneapolis and
Chicago, and the office of the Twin Cities Anti War Committee. To date, a
total of 23 activists have received summons to appear before a Grand
Jury run by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. Many of those targeted are
activists who stand in solidarity the Palestinian and Colombian people.
Their ranks include anti-war, trade union and community leaders.
Patrick Fitzgerald wants to turn the clock back to the 1950s and play
the role of Joe McCarthy - his aim is to put activists in prison for
their political beliefs. This is an attack on everyone who is working
for peace, justice and equality. We cannot allow the government to get
away with this.
- San Francisco - February 12
- Chicago - February 12
- New York - February 12
- Triangle Area, North Carolina, February 19
Hold this date - the locations and times for the regional conferences will be announced soon.
