(Guarding and socializing)
Focusing on his music, it came upon the Bard that the Silence was nowhere to be found in Silver Springs. the months he had stayed here had not helped... and when not playing, he had developed a nervous twitch. Heading out into town he inquired about caravans heading further into Terra Nova.
After a week of asking he had almost given up hope of finding work that would move him along.
"Scuse me" a rough voice caused him to look up from his music. A large burly man
with shaggy hair and the worst mustache he had ever seen looked down on him. Rav'n wondered at the man a brief moment, and couldn't help but think the man might look fearsome with a beard.
"Are you deaf? or just daft?" the man said after a moment.
The Bard chuckled... the twitched, "No... not deaf, daft or dumb. Just surprised... and a bit whimsical"
"Word has it you're looking for a job." The Large man pointed at the swords at his hip. "If you're any good with those... I could use one more Guard."
The Bard looked at the man, then at the
swords at his left hip... almost forgetting they were there, "No...er... Yes, I'm good with them... just never really did...'guard' work before." he drew a sword. "Pointy ends...other person..."
The large man looked at him...almost ready to change his mind, "6 bells tomorrow morning. If you're there, you're hired...if not?"
The Bard wasn't quite sure what the man mumbled as he turned away. It didn't matter... maybe his luck was turning... He put his sword away, nearly slicing his thumb off as he twitched again.

The next morning
he was packed and out the door heading to the edge of town. He saw 2 figures leaning against the back of the 3rd wagon.
"Excuse me..." Rav'n started to say.
"Pay up!!" the tall elf with the long brown hair and a Rapier on his hip said to his partner.
Tossing the silver coins to the Elf, the Thin Velderman turned and smiled at the Bard. It had been nearly a year since he had seen him, and even though Griffon had grown, there was no mistaking that boyish grin.
"So", the Velderman said, adjusting the axes at his belt and strapping on his shield,
"looks like you get to make an honest day's wage!"
Their Reunion was cut short by the bellow of the Caravan Master. "Load em Up and head em out!" The Mustachio'd man rumbled, "We have miles and miles to go and weeks and weeks before we get to Tide Point!
Along the way, Rav'n spent his free time in the evening playing music, singing and making
friends with the other guards as well as the Merchants they were guarding. Whenever possible, he would draw the conversation around the what he began calling... The Silence. And while Guarding kept him occupied and playing and singing soothed his soul... when he began asking questions, he began to twitch.
