Join us for the 21ST ANNUAL MOUNTAIN BIKING, ROAD BIKING, HIKING, SPLASHING, CAMPING WEEKEND at the Davidson River Campground just outside Brevard, NC. There's lots to see and do - mountains to climb - if you like elevation, or descend - if you seek a thrill. There are miles of valley cycling, following the French Broad River and its East Fork, with elevations similar to home. There are wonderful trails to hike, with expansive views from the tops of balds or waterfalls to wade, and miles of flat-water paddling (meaning NO rapids) or tubing. Restaurants are plentiful, and Brevard is near-center of the craft brewery scene.
Davidson Campground is a federally owned property, well funded and maintained, in an ideal location. Because of this, it is very popular, so reservations need to be made in advance. The reservation calendar opens 7 months in advance - which is NOW.
- There is no cost - other than the campsite, gas & food - to join a bunch of local cyclists on a camping trip.
- The attendees change from year-to-year, and it's always an interesting mix of people - all of whom share cycling, hiking & camping interests.
- The daily itinerary is usually decided the night before, around the campfire. There's typically a day of hiking, a day of cycling, and some afternoon kayaking (or tubing) thrown in.
- If you don't have camping gear, there are lodgings just outside the campground, or if you ask nicely, we all have extra gear to loan.
