Hello,

We are riding The Lucky Bike 100 from Durham to Raleigh and back this Saturday, September 12. We will depart Cocoa Cinnamon (420 W Geer St) at or around 8:15 am.

The route ends at Atomic Clock in Durham, where you can show the bartender your ride results (logged using the RUSA permanents program) to receive a free beer. We will distribute Lucky Bike 100 patches to finishers at Atomic Clock. The patch: The Lucky Bike 100 – An out and back challenge to Durham, NC.

Permanent route #05939 has been updated with the re-route mapping and Cue Sheet for the closure of the White Oak Creek Greenway. I gave the detour a ride yesterday and it was just as nice as the rest of the route. You can find the route in the RUSA Permanents Library by searching LUCKY: Randonneurs USA

In order to participate, join RUSA or make sure your membership is active (RUSA Membership | Randonneurs USA). Once your membership is active, make an online account, join the permanents program, and sign up to ride Permanent Route #05939 on September 12.

The route includes Umstead, and we have some people planning to ride the course on 25s, one on 23s. I plan to bring up the rear and carry a few extra tires for the extra fortunate.

Cheers,
John Hugo Ellis
