First, thank you to everyone for parking in the preferred Cyclist Spots.  I was the only one who parked in a spot that could have been used to make deliveries easier for a vendor on the side of Rio Grande (Second spot from the very back on the pavement).  Thanks to Ken and one other person who parked in the gravel lot behind Rio Grande..

I felt the 18-19 group rode a solid and respectful ride today.  We finished at 18.8 and everyone stayed together on the climbs.  This is how I prefer to ride in groups.

Etiquette for the Tuesday/Thursday rides.
1. For Safety, we should all be looking down the road in the direction we are riding (not at the person with whom we are talking - we can hear each other without looking at each other.)
2. We should all ride with both hands on the handle bars the entire ride, unless you are drinking water or your hand is cramping.
3. We should hold our line the best we can.  If the person in front of you is veering left and right, please try to hold your line.  You may choose a slightly different line than the person in front of you due to vibrations in the road or comfort level riding close to other riders (I prefer the smoothest line I can find and to ride close to the rider on my right).  Everyone has their own preferences.
4. Our groups prefer the "chicken wing wag" signal before coming off the front and before standing.  While giving these signals, continue pedaling.  Do not slow down or change your line until after the signal is given.  The signal comes before you take the action.  Right elbow wag when coming off the left side and left elbow wag when coming off the right side.  Wag both elbows before you stand.

When you are new to any group, please ask anyone who rides regularly with the group "the rules of the group."   In our group, more than half the riders have more experience and more miles riding than I do.  If you want to be a stronger or faster rider, they will help you if you ask.

Great ride today.  See you Thursday!

Please contact me directly if you have any questions.
