Start with Cycle De Oros calendar of events ... quite a lot of local events races and rides are listed (besides the lesser known international races like tour de France , Giro d'Italia and Vuelta espania etc.) and build your own target list of rides events races etc. add in a few of the local running events on and off road, and the triathlon or duathlon ones and you'll be good to go.
