Hi Group -

I'm curious if there is anyone out there looking for a ride with a slower paced group?  I am recently back to GSO - and I was off the bike for a year when I moved here to help family through my father's passing.

Now that I'm getting back on the bike - I looked for an avg 14-16 MPG, 12-18 Miles, 1.1 W/Kg to 1.6W/kg group.  Did not find one so looking to start one. I don't want the 17-19 avg group - as I drag their average down!!

If you're interested - let me know.  I am thinking we could meet in Summerfield, or if there is a group living near a different part of GSO I could drive there.  I have permission for us to meet at the Greensboro Performing Arts parking lot.

Let me know - I'll build the ride from there but am thinking of starting this Monday with a 13-15 mile ride, no drop, and a social feel on the ride.

Hi Drew!

THANK YOU for making this post - and this offer!  A group at this pace is sorely needed in our cycling community.  As a long-time organizer, my advice is to just post the ride & not wait for people to say they will be there.  In 20+ years, I've never had NO ONE show up.  Just post it consistently, and They Will Come.  Summerfield is a little far out for some people to get to during the week, so once the group develops, consider moving closer into town. That location would work really well on weekends.  Just getting permission for a starting location is an excellent start.

Looking forward to seeing this develop -

Drew,
Hi. There are a few existing group rides (admittedly not many, but a few) that meet your speed and distance criteria.  You can find them listed in the curated Events listing at https://piedmont.bike/events
Examples are:
If you do create your own group ride, please list it in the Events section of Piedmont.Bike as well as Triad Ride List to maximize the exposure. You can list rides on Piedmont.Bike simply by joining the site (which is free).

Drew,

I sent private message to you. However, wanted to openly agree with Mary.

Post the ride. You can also post on a couple different facebook pages, and the new Piedmont cycling site.

I agree with Mary in regards to location as well. Meeting at Spencer Love tennis courts would give you about ten mikes of protected, paved riding within Military Park, Country Park, Jaycees Park, Forest Lawn Cemetery and the section of the Greenway that runs along Old Battleground and Battleground avenue back to Jaycees Park.
