If you are planning to attend the Apple Pie Ride, at 7:00 AM a small group of us are planning to ride the 63 mile route at 18 mph. This will be a relaxed 18 mph stopping at every rest stop. If it gets really hot by the third or fourth rest stop we may even back it off a little bit.

If you’d like to ride with us, please let me know. I’ll be wearing a North Carolina unity jersey and riding a green bike.

If you want to ride with us until the first rest stop and then either slow down or speed up, that is wonderful as well.

I would like to know what happened to Mary Hughes's Ride that left from the church on Air Harbour Rd on the 4th. It was a well planned, great ride that everyone enjoyed. And it was free!!! It seems like every good grass roots ride gets taken over by some group that wants to charge for it, and that is a shame . It is no wonder a lot of the rides in and around Greensboro are kept private to specific groups. No one wants their hard work and dedication taken away by a charity ride. Just my 2 cents.

There are SEVEN Saturday charity rides (see below)  In Greensboro annually.
There are 52~53 Saturdays in each year
All benefit us by helping their charities AND bringing cyclists of all abilities together. It's called building a community...
1.) Polar Bear (Food pantry)
2.) Pedal for Mental Health (free)
3.) Hamil Kerr Challenge (multi)
4.) Rites of Spring (MS)
5.) Cycle4CMT
6.) Apple Pie Ride (BIG)

I have only been here for three years, so I am unfamiliar with that dynamic. Could you give me an example of what you mean?

I would really urge you to reconsider your stance, while the free group rides and those put on by Mary, Michael and various other members of the community are extremely important and integral. These charity rides that dale puts on and organizes are hugely beneficial to both the cycling community and those outside of it, I have met and ridden with lifelong friends on these rides and all while benefiting great causes and supporting our community, I would really urge you to come out and enjoy and experience it for yourself!

I neglected to check the temps for tomorrow. My friends and I are still leaving at 7:00, but we have decided to ride 50 miles. We will stop at 3 rest stops and plan to average a conversational 18 mph. If we need to back it off a little as it warms up, we will. Heat affects some of us more than hills.
