Just to bring everyone up to date. Thanks to folks sending in checks, some "pledged" funds  and those individuals at the GVC party tonight, we are just shy of $200 needed to make the $1000 match. Please consider helping, even if just a small amount. Thx

Some of you may know that I have been involved in Bicycling in Greensboro's Changing Gears program. Changing Gears provides a bicycle plus safety equipment and basic training in bicycle safety skills to socio-economically disadvantaged adults in our community- we've educated over 100 individuals about bike safety (always wear a helmet, ride with traffic on the street) and given many bicycles and helmets to deserving individuals.
The "man" power for this program is all volunteer!!!- myself, Jesse Day, William Routh, Mark Schulz and Kassie Miller have provided the backbone. The LBS- Revolutions, REI and Cycles de Oro have let us purchase these things at a significant discount and we appreciate that, especially in these trying economic times

Changing Gears has been funded by grants but the last of the grant funding is about to end, and we need your help. Two generous BIG members have issued a Challenge Grant -- they'll match all monetary donations for the Changing Gears program, up to a cumulative total of $1,000. But this challenge only lasts until December 31, 2009!

Have a great day,
