Kudos to Blake Lambert & his team for one of the best - if not THE BEST - organized cycling events in North Carolina.  What makes it special?
  • The routes are well thought-out.  They didn't search out every agonizing hill in North Carolina when they mapped this out, so you'll get lots of normal rolling terrain, with typical rural scenery.
  • A surprising number of distance options means someone really thought through the route mapping
  • Volunteers that cover the routes (all of them) for as long as 10.5 HOURS.  If you've ever had an event pack up rest stops before you got there (yep, it's true), you'll appreciate this fact.
  • Blake road skates the routes at the back of the cyclists, so if you can pedal as fast as he can skate, you're supported for 100 miles.  NOBODY else in North Carolina gives you this.
  • There WILL BE food when you get back.  Margaret's in the kitchen cooking it, so you don't have the problem of the FastBoyz scarfing down everything in sight before you are even half-way through your ride.
  • There WILL BE people at the finish when you get there...even if yours is the last car in the parking lot.
  • There WILL BE lots of rest stops, with good selection of eats & drinks, each manned by a pleasant volunteer.
  • You don't have to book a hotel room to do this century (or any of the shorter options)
  • All proceeds go to the National MS Society
  • Early weather forecasts are AWESOME! Perfect fall riding conditions - pretty leaf colors - sunny skies - fantastic ride!
Get out and RIDE!  And thanks again, Blake, for another year of Carolina Century.  It's a big job for you & your team to undertake, and the cycling community appreciates your efforts!

What a great ride promotion, Mary!

Blake and his gang sure put their hearts and souls (and lots of time and energy) into this event.

I hope to see many of you folks out there!

And....if you'd like to cruise a nice casual century distance, I'd love to pedal along with you!

See you Saturday!

I would like to publicly state that Dayle Fitzgibbons actually rides at her advertised pace.

No kidding!  If she says it's 14-15 MPH, she's not making it up.  She will not ride off & leave you in the dust, if you can do 14-15 (or whatever pace she states for a ride).

Very few people out there like Dayle.  Great ride leader - GREAT addition to the Triad cycling scene.

Thanks Dayle!
