I have ridden in the past with Janet's son, and he's a great guy and a good rider. While he is autistic, he's high functioning and was working in retail the last time I spoke with him. He typically doesn't need a high level of supervision. You'd need to create the route and make sure you stick to it. He likes to ride 25 mile routes, although he's capable of longer distances. From what I remember, his average speed is around 15+ mph, but I always thought he could go faster with if he had the right support. Plus you'd love Janet and her husband John. They're great people.
