Wanted: a solid but good shape used bike for a novice Rider/ triathlete.

I have a good friend who is just trying to get into some of the shorter triathlons, doesn't own a bicycle, doesn't want to spend a lot of money, so I'm looking for a reasonably priced used but workable bike, doesn't have to be particularly light. Something in the line of the old Schwinn Varsity would be great. Thanks! Jimmy
