Triad Ride List

1–30 of 13802

The Triad Ride List exists to help Piedmont Triad NC cyclists share information about rides and topics of interest to the local cycling community. The list is not affiliated with any shop, club or business, though all are welcome to participate.  Originally conceived by cyclist Ian Joyce, the TRL is now managed by Bicycling in Greensboro (www.bikegso.org) as part of its mission to transform the greater Greensboro area into a community that embraces people who ride bikes. The Triad Ride List continues to be open to all, and will be successful as these founding principles given below are followed.

*List Etiquette*

There are more than 1,800 members on the list. To avoid overloading members with email:

Stay on topic. This is a local cycling list. The emphasis is local, because if you wish to discuss general cycling topics there are plenty of places where this is welcome. Local topics are those that address rides (even those that aren't strictly local), cycling events, and topics that are relevant to this cycling community.
Use reply-all sparingly or not at all. Only reply to the entire list if you specifically want to share your response with 1,800-plus people.
Use restraint. Have a comment for a specific person? Email him or her directly.
Be nice. Respectful disagreement is fine. Flaming isn't and will get all participants tossed from the list. Don't complain; use the delete key.
Be thorough. If you post a ride, include all of the information that anyone on the list would need.

Managing Your List Subscription

Members are responsible for managing their subscriptions to the Triad Ride List. This includes joining, altering a membership or leaving the list. These are simple tasks that require little in the way of Internet literacy. Links to the relevant commands are included in list emails. We know it's easier to make these tasks another person's problem, but is that really what you want to do?
For new members, please be patient for your post to get approval - if your post is not showing up, please send John Connor, List Manager, a direct email to ask about the reasons for any delay.
If you have a problem with Google Groups that hinders you, send John Connor, List Manager (not the list) an email with details and assistance will be provided.

Commercial Content

Using the list to sell stuff is okay, within limits. Here are the rules:
Individuals are welcome to offer items for sale, as long as they
List any item only once (no reminders, price reductions, etc.)
Include all relevant information, including condition, price, etc.
NOTE: If you're selling someone on the list, it's to your benefit to ensure the ad is clearly a local one. We frequently delete scam posts and ban the scammers, and if your ad looks like a scam (generic photo, cross posted to other lists, too good to be true price) it will probably get deleted. Fair warning, okay? To be specific:
We require that the items for sale by seller or sales at retailers follow these rules (posts in violation will be immediately removed).
1. Seller should identify themselves with first and last name and city/town lived in.
2. Items should be accurately described with an “up-front” price, and high quality and comprehensive pictures should be attached or linked to.
3. The description and price must be in the For Sale CR post itself (not linked to elsewhere.)
4. Pictures must be available at some non-disappearing location, either attached or on Google pics/Flickr, etc.

Please observe these notes about commercial content:
If you're a prospective buyer, reply directly to the seller. Always.
DO NOT forward commercial emails to the list. Never.

Any bike shop/bike-related business is welcome to publicize events (sales, clinics, etc) that are relevant to our local community, as long as:
They advertise an event only once
They include all relevant information

A Note for Event Ride Organizers & Clubs

Please coordinate your publicity efforts so you don't flood the list with duplicate emails. Here's what is recommended:
A save the date email
A reminder shortly before the event
Emails about last minute changes necessitated by weather or other factors

Have a question or want to request an exception? Email John Connor, List Manager.

Constructive feedback is always welcomed.

Thanks for being part of the list, and safe cycling to all!
