Just so everyone knows! There was a segment about homebirth on The
State of Things today arond noon with Frank Statio. Although I didn't
get to listen in the first time, I believe they will replay the
segment this evening.

It was suggested that we email s...@wunc.org to offer a thanks and help
them understand how much we care about this issue!

"Home Births in N.C.

Frank Stasio and Olympia Stone

Tuesday, January 29 2008

North Carolina is one of ten states where certified professional
midwives are not allowed to practice legally without a doctor present.
As a result, pregnant women living on the Outer Banks and in rural
communities in North Carolina lack choices. But that may be changing:
a legislative study committee has been formed to examine the need to
license midwives with a report due at year's end. Catherine Kozak, a
staff writer for the Virginian Pilot's Nags Head Bureau joins host
Frank Stasio to discuss the issue of licensing midwives."
