to Triad Birth Advocacy
(quoted from NCFOM)
Good Morning Friends,
Our first Legislative Study Committee is a week from tomorrow and WE
NEED TO FILL UP THAT ROOM TO OVERFLOWING.
I discussed with Lara yesterday and our objectives are as follows:
1) Make a great first impression
2) Show that this is important to people
3) Address their stereotypes of us
4) Take note of their concerns and address them point by point at
later meetings
While we could, we don't have to address every topic at this first
meeting.
As far as I know, the speakers will be orchestrated, and as Sonya
learned from her discussion with Dr. Bob the NC Medical Society will
be invited to address the committee.
Our countermeasure to powerful opposition whose arguments are wrapped
up in a bunch of 50 cent words is lots and lots of NCFOMers in that
meeting room (along with our better arguments and our own 50 cent
words).
We should be dressed smart and professional (I will be wearing my
"tree hugging earth munching peace dad" t-shirt underneath my suit and
tie).
Babes in arms are welcome. We were coached that we should be very
careful with toddlers as legislators can get annoyed quickly if things
get disruptive.
We need you. I would like to see a hundred people attend. Here is
where we flex our muscles and get their attention.
A survey will be coming out soon to get a belly button count.
