Dear modular/synth/pulsey/quad/ADSR/semi-mod friend/enthusiast,

I’d like to invite you to an out-of-doors, daytime patching session on Friday, 30 June 2017, from 12-4PM. It will be held under a very nice stand of trees as part of Welcome America’s “Go 4th and Learn” @ Penn Park. The basic plan will be to do a continuous but laid-back patching session, during which individual or group “sets” by anyone interested could emerge. We’d invite any interested visitors to engage (quick demo, chit chat, etc..) all while keeping the CV flowing.

There will be quieter moments and moments where there will be a salsa band playing nearby. So I’d say incidental and focused sets could both work depending on when you tee off. We’ll be in the center of the quad system so it should be easy to be heard. As for duration, I just want to make sure that everyone who’d like to do a set and/or quad out gets to. Patches can of course be left running even when not connected to the main system if anyone like headphones. I’m hoping that some people will be interested in speaking with us as well.

The goals I have in mind are (just a start – but would obviously welcome your thoughts/ideas):
1. open-air patching & other voltage to audio shenanigans
2. talk about your programs/series/music/biz (flyers/cards to hand out would be a good idea)
3. engage interested parties
4. Make America Gate Again

I’d like to focus on modular things but plan to bring a BEMI easel and a theremin out for some fresh air.

Answers to some FAQs:
1. We’ll have a quad system and hopefully some snacks & beverages.
2. If you’d like to stay for the whole time, more power to you; your presence would be appreciated for any period of time.
3. Yes, this is a kid-friendly event.
4. Pretty much everyone is welcome.
5. I wouldn’t get too excited about the snacks even if they show up so maybe packing a picnic isn’t a bad idea.
6. I’ll plan to be there at 10AM – when power will be switched on.
7. There will be other things going on nearby – details to be posted here any day now: https://welcomeamerica.com/events-archive/?date=06/30/2017

If you are available and would like to join in (with or without running crew in tow), please let me know at your earliest convenience. Also, please let me know what sort of footprint your rig will have so we can make sure that there’s enough space.

This is our spot (under the trees) – we’ll likely set up on a couple of picnic tables:

Please feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested and/or hit me back with any questions you might have.

Cheers,
Eugene
