Hi,

Not sure if anyone else has this issue however my network.service has stopped working with linux drivers after using Trex.

I cannot bing anything to linux driver, Trex still works fine!

However I cannot start any networking service, bring up interfaces for management etc...

Regards,
Aleks

Hi Aleksandar,

TRex uses DPDK which in turn requires poll mode driver for all the used interfaces.

This requires unbinding the NICs from the Linux kernel driver and bind them to the relevant DPDK driver.

When you launch TRex it automatically binds the relevant interfaces (configured in the configuration file).

If you wish to unbind them and rebind them to the Kernel driver (and be able to use all the Linux tools), check dpdk_nic_bind.py --help
on how to do so.

Thanks,
Itay

Thanks for the replies binding the interfaces to trex works well, when running trex and allowing it to look at the cfg file then bind and trex begins. When manually binding I receive an error (will post this later) same error is seen when trying to unbind and allow the Linux drivers to take over.

Upon running trex (which works well) when trying to use interfaces which are not bound to the dpdk driver I can no longer run the Linux networking service... will post the messages, this might have something to do with ubuntu and not trex however
