Hello everyone,

Sorry if it is a stupid question as I am new in trex world. I have seen that in STL mode is possible to generate multiple latency streams (Tutorial: Per stream latency/jitter/packet errors). Is it possible  to do the same for STF or ASTF mode.

My scenario is a T-Rex in a clustering mode where the cluster of DUTs is a network topology (testbed), using T-Rex with statefull traffic to fill the network and get latency statistics per path. To do so I think that I need something similar to the stateless example (2.11.22) but for statefull scenarios. If it is not possible, Is there other options to do so?

Thanks in advance

Would It be possible/ correct to run multiple instances of T-Rex in the same server, one for generating the traffic in  ASTF mode and  a second one (with a different IP pool ) to generate the latency streams in STL mode?

Thanks

Hi,
Good question, your need is understandable.  ASTF does not support multiple streams of latency stream as it is in STL mode.  In case of latency streams and some NIC hardware the accuracy is high due to Qos configuration in the egress.

Would it help to have a sample latency per template (UDP/TCP)?
The workaround you mentioned by having two instances of trex could work (if each instance using a separate NIC) but seems as a cumbersome.

Thanks
Hanoh

Hi Hanoh,

The idea is to have a more o less realistic profile using multiple templates associated to different applications. Then associate each profile to a client server tuple group (each tuple group is associated to a routing path in the network). So you suggestion would be to add an extra different template for each path to obtain the latency of this template? Would it be possible?

Thanks
Albert

Hi Hanoh,

Then it would be possible to have sample latency per template (UDP/TCP) as you suggested in the previous mail?

Thanks in advance

Albert
