Hello Everyone.

I am new to Trex and currently in the process of experimenting with it.

My scenario is to use the Trex traffic generator in a Client-DUT-Server model where the Client and Server are separate machines.

By default Trex expects two interfaces while setting up the configuration(while executing the  the dpdk_setup_ports.py script)

Any ideas on how to get around this? That  is there a way to select only one interface on the Client(and Server) machines?

Request you help in getting the above information

Regards,
Churchill

Hi Churchill,
You are right, the minimum number of ports is two however you can set one interface as "dummy" (in case of client side the server port).
Try to search this in the manual

Thanks
Hanoh

Hi David,
Did you use ASTF mode to get the server and client in different machine? I am trying to do the same but couldn't find what to be done even from the documentation. Can you please post the link of the documentation (with the section) which you used to setup client and server separately. This would be really helpful.

Thanks
Bidhov

Hi Bidhov,

I was experimenting with Stateless method.

You can refer the documentation about the "dummy" interface concept from the link below.

Churchill

Hello,

Regarding the Client/Server in separate machines setup. Could you tell me how to check statistics for such setup?
As t-rex client can expose statistics for injected traffic only. How to make sure that all injected traffic has been received on t-rex server's side?

Thanks,
Max

hi. You can make a request to server as you request client.
