Hi,

Is fragmentation supported in trex astf? The docs say its supported but on radar? - https://trex-tgn.cisco.com/trex/doc/trex_astf.html#_feature_overview
Say its not supported by trex? Can we workaround by replaying captures containing fragmented packets?

Hi Sowmya,
Are you talking about IP fragmentation? Since the title is ICMP and ICMP6 this is a bit confusing. If this has anything to do with ICMP, ICMPv6 then ASTF is not the way to go, take a look at the EMU. https://trex-tgn.cisco.com/trex/doc/trex_emu.html
The doc says that there is no fragmentation support but replaying captures with fragmented packets should not be a problem.
Thanks,
Bes

Thanks Bes. I missed changing the header. I was looking for tcp, udp as well as icmp.
I need TCP, UDP and ICMP fragmentation support for NAT64. So I can only use astf mode afaik.

Best,
Sowmya

Hi Bes,
Relaying " replaying captures with fragmented packets " you mean in EMU or the astf?

Thanks,
sowmya

ASTF is what you need.
ASTF does not support fragmentation yet.

Thanks

Hi Sowmya,
EMU has no ability to replay packets. It can emulate ICMP4/6 but will also not fragment.
ASTF can replay packets, and it should be able to replay any type of packet, hence the fragmentation should not matter. As long as you have fragmented packets it should not be able to replay them.
You can also generate this fragmented packets some other rate and TRex will multiple the rate if you want to scale test.
Thanks,
Bes
