WhenI state I have not been back to Singapore since the 2006 event, the reason is due almost entirely to the higher cost of airline tickets, and not to any reluctance to revisit the lovely island of Singapore.
I am someone who is able to see paranoma since primary 6 ( it only started then and became less common) i have personal experience of seeing British troops marching when i went to changi village for dinner .
As far as my local area goes.
A local business in my home town of Monterey runs a ghost walk service. The history of Monterey is rather scary and I recommend the ghost tour of Monterey as a good historical tour of the older adobe sites in the city.
Monterey has a bloody history as does much of California with the decimation of the indigenous people, the conquest of Mexican California by the USA, and the extermination of Chinese communities throughout western towns in bloody ethnic cleansing riots during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

After a half-dozen trips to Singapore where i always stayed downtown, the village quality of Changi Village was a pleasant and different face of Singapore. I enjoyed the time I spent there outside of the busy city.
Last week, I ranked some of my scariest hauntings. Despite solid competition, my pontianak haunting reigned supreme and today, I finally have the time to tell the whole story. To recap, I held my birthday chalet for three days at a certain chalet in the East. As luck would have it, our bungalow was directly opposite Old Changi Hospital aka the most haunted place in Singapore. What followed was three straight nights of me and my loved ones getting disturbed by one of the scariest ghosts ever.
My sister was understandably spooked out by the event, and immediately left my chalet after the party was over. Little did we know that, for the rest of us who stayed behind, our turn to get haunted would come later that night.
After my party ended, my parents and I slept in the bungalow, in our own rooms. At about 2am, I was suddenly awakened by sound of my dad reciting holy verses very, very loudly. I immediately opened my bedroom door, and greeted by the sight of my mum cowering behind my dad as he shouted at the window.
I started reciting all the holy verses I knew as the banging sounds spread to other areas of the bungalow. After what seemed like an eternity, the banging noises finally stopped. However, my parents were too shaken up to sleep, and waited for the first bus so that they could GTFO.
My then-colleagues came over at night to have a BBQ session. We split ourselves into two teams; one stayed in the kitchen to prepare mains while the other headed to the BBQ pit outside to marinate the proteins.
I was in the kitchen putting the finishing touches to my macaroni when suddenly, my colleagues outside started screaming. A few stray dogs had surrounded the BBQ pit, and were aggressively barking at the roof of the pit.
Even though I had probably seen hundreds of pontianaks in movies by that point, nothing could prepare me for the real thing. Her eyes were blood-red and animalistic. Her hair, unkempt and shrub-like. She stared menacingly at us for about five seconds before flying off.
My friends and I were playing Mario Kart when we heard loud knocks coming from the door. One of my friends was about to open it when I stopped her. Firstly, all of my guests were already in the bungalow. And secondly, it was 1:30am. As the knocks continued and more people wanted to open the door, I realised I had to tell my friends the truth.
In January 2010, a group of local filmmakers began exploring the famously haunted Old Changi Hospital in Singapore with terrifying and tragic results. This film pieces together the original Haunted Changi film crews footage to tell the full story.

Fairly by the numbers 'haunted asylum' found footage horror, thankfully minus long mouthed CGI children. Interesting in being one of the very few Singaporean horror films and actually based off a real asylum. Other than that, it sticks to an established formula with little relish for anything new, including a loud but unsatisfying finale. It's earnest at least, just not interesting enough to seek out, even if you are a simp for found footage, like myself.
found footage baseado em fatos reais com trechos da gravao original
um filme que eu facilmente veria novamente com meus amigos
reconheo que no vale 4 estrelas, mas adoro filme de terror (gritei duas vezes no ironicamente........
Run-of-the-mill haunted hospital flick, slightly elevated by having Singapore as its backdrop, a location seldom seen in the horror genre.
For a horror mockumentary, it is light on scares, but the location of the real-life haunted manages to be spooky enough on its own.
Fans of mockumentaries/found footage who have run out of other options might risk a watch.
Andrew Lau has quite an hand on making the location alive with lights, shadows and the soundscape -- in particular the thunderstorm scenes -- without underlining paranormal anomalies. It's a pity he doesn't always make scenes breathe to build the tension that the situation has already in itself (I mean, exploring a dark hole by sending in a camera is quite creepy just by thinking of it)
Haunted Changi is a Singaporean-made venture into the Found Footage genre. The horror genre launched the Found Footage with the sleeper hit of The Blair Witch Project and has ventured into the haunted house genre several times since with the likes of The St. Francisville Experiment and especially the big hit of Paranormal Activity. Although in practice, Haunted Changi seems less like a Blair Witch/Paranormal Activity copy and more like one of the pseudo reality tv shows such as Most Haunted, Ghost Hunter and Ghost Adventures that follow parapsychologists and mediums around supposedly haunted locations trying to find evidence of activity.
This is where things started getting shady. Though Kitchener Barracks still operated as a medical facility for war casualties and injured military personnel, WWII also saw the grounds being used by the Kempeitai. If your memories of social studies class are hazy, well, the Kempeitai were the Japanese military police notorious for their brutal torture techniques.
Plus, this made it difficult for medical services to be efficiently carried out. So the hospital officially closed in 1997, after merging with Toa Payoh Hospital to form Changi General Hospital.
Naturally, rumours of the hospital being haunted began going around. People reported strange happenings during their adventures, from spotting apparitions in pre-war clothing to spirits in medical uniforms along the corridors.
The bodies of these unfortunate Chinese men were buried in nearby mass graves, dug out by prisoners of war. This dark event has stained the history of this area and led to the belief that the stretch of beach its surrounding areas may, in fact, be haunted.
Many claim that Changi Beach is one of the most haunted places in the country. There have been countless reports of visitors to the beach experiencing strange, unexplainable sounds. These are typically described as weeping, wailing, screaming or crying out for help. There have also been the phantom sounds of gunshots echoing across the empty stretches of sand.
Visual phenomena have also been said to occur. Some have seen eerie puddles of blood form and pool amongst the grains of sand that cover Changi Beach. These appear without an identifiable source and tend to disappear quickly after being spotted. In addition to the blood stains along the beach, many have also claimed to spot bizarre apparitions that seem fitting to the circumstances of the massacre. Some people have claimed to witness the heads of Chinese men either bobbing aimlessly in the water or even flying at speed across the shoreline. Headless bodies have also been spotted by some walking the same stretch of beach that they were likely executed upon.
Interestingly there have even been others who have claimed to sight what can only be described as the actual executions taking place. This is thought to be trapped energy resulting in a residual haunting and basically showcases scenes that are doomed to replay throughout time.
Whilst there appear to be significant levels of paranormal activity occurring in the area where the massacre happened, further reports of hauntings surrounding this area exist. Some of the beach houses in the area are reportedly haunted by violent entities. Some visitors to these properties have allegedly experienced poltergeist activity or been scratched aggressively. There are also reports of a woman in white who prowls the area, often crying in pain as if having just lost a loved one.
