DINNER MEETING - TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2000
Wireless Networking
This month's meeting will cover wireless networking. The speaker for the
evening will be Greg Robson, a System Engineer with Cisco.
Greg's presentation will provide an understanding of an alternative
method of connecting remote network locations within a 40 - 50 kilometer
radius at speeds up to 11 MBPS. The technology provides a method of
extending your LAN/WAN without monthly line costs, dedicated lines, or
additional servers. Greg will highlight the configuration issues for both
internal and building to building systems and how good design will avoid
common pitfalls. He will also discuss performance, distance limitations,
antennae placement, security and reliability and how they apply to your
particular requirements.
