I am just wondering what should I do if I want to put some text on an
object?? I have tried to use the Text option in the Shapes Toolbar, but it
is ok only for a couple characters. It will take me forever to render the
object if I want to put a couple sentences on the object!! Could any 3d
master please tell me the solution of it?? Thank you.

To put text actually onto an object's surface, you have to design a graphic
file (ie. gif, bmp etc) in a paint program like photoshop and then assign
the surface to the specific object. I forget the exact menu commands to do
this, but somewhere it lets you pick a graphic file for an objects surface.
In the old 3D Studio this was accomplished using the materials editor.

Alternatively, you can create the actual 3-D text (as an object) and place
it just inside the other object so that it sticks out just enough to become
visible. I recommend the first alternative however, as this is only a cheap
trick.

Hope this helps.
