Hi Bonnie,
I graduated from Trent last year, and am currently working for Rational
Software in Kanata. It looks like we are likely going to be hiring several
Quality Engineers (software testers) over the next few months. Here is a
copy of the qualifications of the job for when I was hired. We were
actually a smaller company (ObjecTime Limited) who just merged with
Rational, so the responsibilities may change slightly; however, to my
knowledge the emphasis is still on Rose for Real-Time testing, as listed
below. Unofficially, I would expect starting salaries to be in the $40,000+
range, though specific offers will be made on an individual basis. Any

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To contribute to the success of the Rose for Real-Time product through
participation in the quality assurance of new product releases.
MAIN RESPONSIBLITIES:
The Rose for Real-Time tool-set supports the generation of executable
systems from visual specifications of models using the UML (Unified Modeling
Language).
In order to maintain the quality of our product deliverables, we must strive
for excellence in our quality assurance programs. The successful candidate
will contribute to the QA programs through manual and automated test case
development and execution.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering,
or equivalent education and experience.
Mandatory Skills:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Cross platform knowledge - Windows NT & Unix
* QA experience
Knowledge of the following would be an asset:
* Real time systems - Tornado, pSOS, VRTX, etc.
* Microsoft development environments
* Clear Case and other CM systems
* OO Technology
* S/W Development using C & C++
* 3rd Party test tools - e.g. Visual Test, X Runner, Win Runner
* Scripting languages - e.g. Perl, Visual Basic

eTunnels.com is looking for talented software developers to join its team.
We currently have four positions available.
A ".com" with a difference, eTunnels is looking to release a next generation
service platform targeted to consumers and professionals working over the
Internet. eTunnels is defining a whole new application spaceTe for the
mass-market. More than a Web company, eTunnels intends to define how users
share interconnected resources and devices over the Internet.
Position 1: Windows Software Developer:
This Vancouver, B.C. based position requires a Windows developer familiar
with writing device drivers and accessing low-level Windows APIs such as
VTDI. The applicant must have experience with TCP/IP and UDP programming
and be familiar with a number of standard Internet protocols. Filesystem
experience is a plus.
Position 2: Windows Software Developer
This Vancouver, B.C. based position is focused on the ongoing enhancement of
eTunnels’ client software. The applicant should be a skilled Windows
developer with broad knowledge of C/C++ and Win32 API. Knowledge of
Microsoft product APIs such as Office, Outlook, etc. is a plus.
Position 3: UNIX Software Developer
This Vancouver, B.C. based position is focused on the enhancement and
maintenance of eTunnels’ communications library and associated server
programs. The applicant must have extensive programming experience writing
high-performance socket based servers, and have experience designing and
implementing protocols. UNIX filesystem driver experience is a plus.
Position 4: Unix Software Developer:
This Vancouver, B.C. based position is focused on the port and maintenance
of eTunnels' client software to X/Windows. The developer should be familiar
with a variety of UNIX GUI toolkits such as GTK, Qt, and Motif. Socket
programming experience and experience with the Samba kit is
a plus.
