Subj: Canadain Undergraduate Technology Conference

This is a quick message to spread word about the first annual Canadian
Undergraduate Technology Conference (CUTC) and to try to establish a
contact at your university to distribute future information to the
students who might be interested there there. I got these addresses off
the web site and they seemed the most appropriate. If I am addressing the
wrong people I apologize and would we very thankful if you pointed toward
the correct channels. Also if you know of an additional avenue I should
use for distributing this information I would also be glad to hear of it.

The idea behind CUTC is to get students from across Canada together to
discuss the present (and future) state of technology and also to have some
fun. While there are many Engineering conferences and competitions or
model parliament things for Political Science majors there is little
in the way of inter-university activities for those in the rapidly
increasing field of computer technology. We hope to fill this gap with an
annual CUTC.

The conference provides several purposes: to give students a better
picture of some of the things happening in the commercial technology
sector, to enable students to share their own research with other students
(if you attend the conference you do not need to present, but if you have
some cool stuff you want to the opportunity is there) and to have students learn about what other
students are doing.

There will be five streams for the conference which we hope will manage to
cover most people's areas of interest. They are The Internet, Next
Generation Hardware and Software, Graphics and Multimedia,
Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and possibly most importantly, Social
Issues.

The conference runs from Wednesday March 8 - Saturday March 11, 2000 and
is sponsored by Nortel Networks, IBM, Sybase and RIM. Just to give you an
idea of some specifics of what will be going on, I will list the initial
layout of the days of the conference.

Thursday: keynote speakers

social events in evening
Friday: workshops

Saturday: field trip in morning
