When I put my phone on charger or plug into the cord, the screen times out after a minute or so. The screen starts showing black, then purple and blue swirl on the screen slowly moving the whole time I am charging. But, after looking... I do see screen save was set to colors. You have solved my issue! Thank you. It was driving me crazy.
After the update my touch screen will not work unless I use the Spen. Samsung made a comment blaming it on Google?? But I've heard from other people it's been an issue for a couple of years so I'm curious on when they plan to fix it because this is ridiculous, I have some apps where I can only log in with my fingerprint.
I enabled the brief popup but it only works and wake up the phone if it's a text message through the Samsung Messenger. All other services such as WhatsApp, Twitter, Teams, Outlook are all not waking up the screen.
Thanks again. If I set the always on display to always on I will see the notifications coming in. But I want to avoid the screen to be always on. I want it to be out (pitch black) and light up with a popup or something else when a notification is received.
Yes I tried the difference between brief and detailed but it made no difference. Power saving option is completely off. I'm getting a new Samsung S21 tomorrow to run some tests with it. Hopefully that device is working just fine..
Hi! Did you ever find a solution for this issue? I am having the same exact problem and like you have searched and searched online for an answer but cannot find it. Thanks for any help you can provide!
Hi I have a 2020 Galaxy Tab A7 and the screen keeps locking randomly. It can be instantly after unlocking the device or from a few seconds up to a few minutes after unlock. This happens whether I am touching the screen or not. It is not powering off, it's just locking the screen but makes the device unusable.
I've tried the following to resolve it but nothing has made any difference.
Removed case in case magnet affecting it.
I am writing because as an engineer working for a major manufacturing company I am beyond shocked by the experience I have had, and before taking my growing dislike for Samsung further I am trying to give you a chance to make things ok.
I have had a broken screen for over a month now. I have had to contact all of the certified repair shops in my state per recommendation of Samsung Care Plus representatives. All of the repair shops state there is a back order on the screen for the S23 Ultra. Not a single one is willing to call me when parts come in, nor have any idea when they will get parts. On a flagship model that is less than 1 year old.
So in the Claim system Samsung Care and repair shops cannot order the screen to the claim. Therefore I have made 5 claims that have all been canceled because the shop does not have the parts. Since they cannot order the parts for the claim there is no way for me to secure a screen for the repair. This is very strange in 2023 when the repair shop claims they have screens but not for insurance claims. Can anyone explain how they have parts if you pay full price instead of using insurance? Sounds like a repair shop not wanting to do the work because Samsung Care Plus does not pay enough for the cost of the repair. Except no one will be honest about this. Nor can anyone give me a timeline for parts to arrive. If someone could even help me secure the repair part I can wait months if I have to. However, based on other online forums I do not feel safe sending my device into Samsung Care Plus for repair. Nor do I find it reasonable that I would have to wait 4 weeks to get it back, if I get it back.
The best part of all of this though is Samsung Care claims they can fix my phone in 3-4 weeks if I send it in. For one that is an unrealistic timeline for someone to be without their phone. Is Samsung going to refund the cost I am paying for on the phone since I cannot use it?
I fully echo duckman56's sentiment. I have been unable to have my s23 Ultra's screen replaced for over a month. My entire state is out of the front glass and my Care claim has been closed numerous times due to parts availability. Very disappointing. As I wait for the part to come in, I have purchased a Google Pixel 6 to see if I want to make the switch to the 8. If I like the features, I'll likely be becoming a Pixel customer as a result of this very frustrating experience.
I am sadly in the same boat as you all and many others.
I bit the bullet and went with the device replacement for 3x the screen replacement price. However it was the only solution with a quick fix, promised me overnight shipping, etc.
Week and a half later, no phone. I've spent more than 15 hours between Samsung Care, Samsung, UsCellular.
Samsung Care just now updated me the Phone itself is now on backorder. I was promised earlier in the week it would ship in 2-3 days.
I was able to get ahold of a Supervisor at SamsungCare who claimed Samsung is providing 10,000 units on 10/12 for device replacements. "Hopefully we can fulfill your request at that time". It's 10/12, and I got a new line of lies for next week with no reference to the lies I was told earlier this week. Now I'm told "for sure next week".
It's all lies. I can't stand it. I'm patient, understanding, and polite to every rep I speak to. No help.
It's a really disheartening after spending so much on the S23ultra to not be able to get it fixed less than 6 months after purchase.
Samsung needs to look in the mirror and do better. Their service across their appliances has been so bad many retailers won't place them on the floor. Now this same quality of service is going into their phones.
Since the recent update I've noticed that when the phone is not open (IE: the phone is on but the screen is black) when I get a notification / message - the little popup that pings at the top of the screen appears but it's so dark I can barely read it unless i bring it very close. Before the update, it was the same brightness as the unlocked phone but now its so dark.
I've restarted the phone and that hasn't change anything. I've tried all the settings I can find but it's not doing anything to brighten the initial notification screen (when the screen is black). When I go into 'Notification pop-up style' when in the edge lighting style setting the example notification pop up is at normal brightness but that's not how bright it is when the phone screen is off.
Try these two options and see if they work for you! I've been using extra brightness (Display settings) for awhile now and honestly don't see ANY extra battery drain. Also under (Wallpaper and style settings), make sure "Dim wallpaper when dark mode is on" is disabled. Between these two settings, it has worked for me. Hope this helps!
Samsung will formally debut the cinema LED screen at a series of preview demonstrations during March 27-30, 2017 at the Cinemark Century Orleans 18 and XD Theatre, located inside The Orleans Hotel & Casino. The premiere will coincide with the neighboring CinemaCon 2017 conference, the largest and most important gathering for the worldwide motion picture theater industry with attendees from more than 80 countries.
As the demands for movie theater space evolve, the Samsung Cinema Screen offers the versatility to satisfy various audience needs. The screen maintains its advanced presentation capabilities in ambient lighting conditions regardless of the featured on-screen content and accommodates users who wish to utilize their theaters for corporate events, concert and sports event viewing, and gaming competitions.
Phone was working fine this morning at home, I plug it in (whilst on) to charge it up (it was on around 40%) and after a while I returned to phone and attempted to use it. The phone was turned off so I pressed power button to boot it up again.
The loading screen popped up with samsung and make of the phone, appears to be starting and then the screen just goes black. The screen works fine when loading, works fine when I plug it in to charge it again and shows the battery %.
If this doesn't help, please clear the cache partition on your device by doing the following:
1. Turn your device off, if it isn't off already.
2. Once the device is off, hold the volume up and the power buttons at the same time for 10 seconds. Keep holding the buttons until you see a Samsung logo.
3. Using the volume down button, scroll down to Wipe cache partition.
4. Press the powerbutton to select.
Exact same problem with my Galaxy A51. Happened last night. First there was a white line on the left side of screen. Then after an hour or so, screen went black with the white line on left. It won't show anything except for the boot up samsung logo.

Since yesterday I downloaded the new update One UI version 6.1... the beginning of my nightmare. Since this so-called update my lock screen information does not appear anymore it is so dim that you can't see anything. Before this update there was a feature to turn the brightness up or to lower it. The brilliant people at Samsung decided that they didn't think I needed it anymore. Well I'm pissed. I didn't give you guys permission to mess up a perfectly fine working phone. There are other things as well that have been moved and you can't find them. Or have been taken away. When your making update you're supposed to make it user friendly. I spent many hours on the phone with technicians from Samsung yesterday. No one can figure it out. Right now I want my lock screen to be bright again because I use it all the time now that you guys screwed up my phone I no longer can use it cuz I can't see it. There was at one time a feature. Before you guys got your hands on my phone. Now I have a $1399 phone that I am unhappy with. And I realized next time I could buy a $99 phone and be just as unhappy. I promise you guys this if they don't send me an update for that fix for the very very very dim lock screen. My next phone will be in iPhone.. how about moving around things and chat the microphone's gone. And the toggle switch to switch back and forth from keyboard to another keyboard. Thanks for making things a little more difficult for me. Now I consider this a piece of ***** it is no longer user friendly. I'm a very unhappy customer. And I promise you may God be my witness I will not buy another Samsung product if this does not get fixed. .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
