I downloaded Trelby but when I started to write on the first page nothing happened, nothing appears.  IOW I can't write.  What's the deal?

Not sure -- have not seen reports of this. What operating system are you on?

I get this as an intermittent problem on Windows 10.
Also, although I'm not sure that it's implemented, I don't get an I-bar cursor on the text page.

I have Windows 7 and I have yet to write a word on any page.Very frustrating and all I've heard from the company is, "Gee, I never heard of that."  Then.....nothing.

Based on those two things--not working and no customer support  I would not recommend this program to anyone.

What "company" are you talking about? What "customer" are you talking about? You do realise those things imply a payment for services rendered, and that Trelby is free software that we have spent thousands of hours of our free time developing?

So when someone writes to you with a problem you can't be bothered to answer?  Because the software is free?  There is more than one free screenwriting program out there and they all get rated.  So while I appreciate the fact that you spent hours creating free software it seems a bit strange Thatcher can't be bothered to take five minutes to help someone resolve a weird problem.  And according to one comment I'm not alone with the problem. So thanks very much for all your hard work, and thanks too for all of your gracious help.

Tell me, how am I supposed to help solve your problem in "five minutes"? If I knew what the problem was I'd fix it but you've given no information to even begin to figure out what might be wrong.

It's like you sending an email to a car mechanic saying your car won't start and then complaining that they haven't remotely fixed.your car based.on.nothing more.than that. In the real life, the car mechanic would come to you, investigate your engine, run tests.on it, try a few different things , and try to figure out what's wrong with it.

Now tell me,.how am I supposed to figure out what your problem is? You make it sound so simple, after all, surely you have an idea then?

My problem is that, while the blue cursor will reposition, I can't actually enter text at my chosen point. It's not a consistent problem, but it does halt flow when it occurs.Shutting down Trelby and reloading clears it.

I've not spotted a specific operation that causes it - C&P can trigger it, but not every time, and the same thing when I do an interim save. I've updated the usual suspects

I run on an HP x2 Split, that has intel graphics, the driver being the current recommended by HP, Intel, and Win10. If it's not some graphic interface glitch related to driver, then it's some 'perfect storm' bug, that could even be at the compiler level and not Trebly at all - I've encountered some odd things coding, especially when it comes to internationalised libraries and how maths and objects are implemented.

I'll try to keep an eye out for some pattern and report it back. When I'm writing, I don't have my 'tech' mindset loaded, if that makes sense.

It's only a minor irritant to me, and, over all, I like the workflow in Trelby, and its feel. (My inner OCD gremlin would like an I bar cursor over text entry areas, but that's just nitpicking on my part.)

I know it's almost 4 years late, but I think I figured it out. I ran into the same issue until i clicked on the script tab. Worked like a charm! If you're reading this, please let me know if that helped.
