PDSmith has an on-going series he's been doing called "Tales of the
Fleet"

I've read both and they're okay for "Family viewing". He's release
another one called "Thirty Minutes" but it has some lesbian aspects
that might not go over well. Nothing blatant, but strongly suggested:

deciever2000 also has Three graphic novels, but I can't read them
because I don't read German- at least it looks like German to me. The

The problem is - at both Tamerlane and Deviant art- that most of the
artists are posting their stories a page at a time instead of as a
completed book Like PDSmith, deciever2000 and I do.

Then of course there are CandelaGreene's books which are usually more
sexually oriented than most.

As discussed Candela Greene's comics can go in the Adult Trek section,
I'll have a look at "Thirty Minutes" but as long as there is nothing
that puts into a higher rating, I'm not averse to gay plotlines. A
large percentage of Trek fandom has "alternative lifestyles" so
ignoring it is not acceptable in this day-and-age.

I like the graphics on the German one - pity we can't get an English
translation

...hand-drawn (it gets *much* worse than this!), usually anime style
(I'm not against that) heavily teenybopper slash - and THAT is what i
don't like: the almost total lack of storyline in most of them. For
the most part they are just an excuse for drawing daydreams and cutesy
chibis (they can be ok in small quantities). I'd give them a passing
mention - unless there are some you think deserve to be encouraged?

- Might go through my previous year's entries and see what has been in
production this year and what has gone into hiatus.

use Guy Davis' Tamerlane as the watermark. It would have to be at least that
good.

Wow! That's a really high benchmark for the artwork! I've never read much manga other than some of the kid's Yu-Gi-Oh! years ago but to my eye his work is on a par with professional standards. I'd like to encourage them but most of their work is sort of on the same level as simple, throwaway fan fic - very little of it has any real storyline.

I might mention them as a general movement in the intro text

that'll work. But if you look at places like DA- Comic Artists United, or Comics Corner, or Deviantart Comics,Most of the good artwork is on Guy's level- in some cases even on level with stuff being put out by DC and Marvel.

 You've set high levels of quality on the projects you're dealing with. You need to maintain that level all across the board or end up losing quality in the eyes of visitora and readers just by assosiation.

I'll check those links, thanks, Madison (see this is where your detailed knowledge comes in!). The problem I found on dA was that the really good artists were professionals who were showing off their drafts, etc for promotional purposes. I've no problem with this but it doesn't fit with what we are doing to add professional work in at this point (I usually add a gratuitous link to the licenced companies, IDW, Pocket Book)

Yes, animations are to be included on the fan film day.  Or should I have animation seperate as I have in the past and drop podcasts? There's actually very little of interest in Podcasts.

As far as I know, Aurora is the only CGI fan film. I've seen test films and such on Youtube, but to my knowledge, none of the others were ever finished.

 If you have others, I'd make them a seperate day. But if Aurora's the only one, I'd put it at the top of the fan film blog so it doesn't get buried under all the live action projects.

Issu has them flagged. Everytime I've checked, there's been a dark screen come up saying that the content might not be suitable and you have to click on "okay" before you can continue. Plus, when I first tried to access them, I had to sign in and confirm my age. So there is some protection in place.

I've got plenty! Right now I'm waiting on whatever anyone can give me for one-paragraph summaries, but otherwise I am set. I don't want it to just be a bunch of links. I'm also waiting to see if anyone objects, but I don't think they will - they know the ratings they have put on their stories and have to understand that it will evoke these connotations. Plus they'll get some positive press.

Cover: Ongoing: I have the graphic, just need to add the title and
dateline, which means it is one of the last things to complete.

Inside cover: PROBLEM - I wasn't happy with the last one. We've had no
contact or feedback from any of the other organisations we featured so
I think we should focus on TU and TU Publishing

Title Page, Masthead, Credits - Ongoing: No problem here, using the
template from last time and substituting this month's info

Editorial: Ongoing: No Problems - I'm never short of words! Maybe about SOPA?

So - it looks like we're close. Can you skip the graphic for Call of Duty? It looks like that's a sticking point. Maybe just go with a nice title (I recall there was no graphic for The Light when it was put out last year, so it's not a necessity, I'm thinking). Or maybe write to Little Black Dog and ask her (although I happen to know she's AFK for a few days, hmmm). You might want to just get a shot of Spock looking concerned and leave it at that - you may not need anything fancier. 

 

No problem with concentrating on TU/TU Publishing for the inside cover. I'm not so sure any other organizations knew that they could have that spot/influence that spot. Too late now - I say just go with TU and move on from there. You are putting this together. Frankly, I think it makes sense to not even bother to offer that space to anyone else - take it as your due as the publishing firm, and then this can be avoided as an issue in the future as well.

 

After that, then I guess follow up with Tamerlane would be my suggestion - looks like everything else is in-hand/in-house.

Call of Duty took longer than expected because the author had put double spaces after periods (which I have a way of fixing in bulk using find & replace) but they'd also put a space in front of every paragraph which I had to delete by hand. Going to have to put an instruction about that in the style guide.

I should get terilynn's done this evening, got chore to do.
