Yes, Things have been too quiet for too long, so it's time to fire up
the Trek Christmas machine again!

Whilst it didn't go like clockwork, I really think I've hit the nail
on the head with the way I organised things last year...
- Twelve Blog pages which will have an automatic publication set for
the day that they should be published so that even if I've karked it,
they will publish on-time like a deadman's switch
- Each day to have an opening and closing statement done first...
- The content for the Day is added to the middle of the Day...
- This makes it so that, although the onus will be to complete what we
start, if we don't get content completed on time it will still read
well with a start, middle and finish.

The mainstay will be summaries of the status of the different Star
Trek fan media for the year but I'm open to suggestions. This was what
we had last year ...

Day 12 - Idic
Day 11 - Trekzines
Day 10 - Trek Modelling
Day 09 - Trek Gaming
Day 08 - Trek Comics
Day 07 - Fan Animation
Day 06 - Adult Trek
Day 05 - Fan Films
Day 04 - Audio Drama
Day 03 - Trek Music
Day 02 - Fan Fiction
Day 01 - Welcome

I'll leave it at that for tonight and trickle out more over the coming
weeks. Looking forward to hearing from old friends and new!

How about doing "Star Trek in Second Life" one day.  Or making it even more general by including all virtual worlds, not just Second Life.

I've been on Second Life a few times and often thought it has a lot of opportunities for events and role-playing. I know The Federation has a strong presence there. Perhaps a Christmas Party on Second Life? I could try to make it a TrekUnited meet-up: we are spread all over the world! I'd even spring for the skin for a Klingon character! At work at the moment - Good to see you again, Richard!

Like last year I'll have to bow out, most likely. I migt just might
have a short story book compiled in a couple of months though, so
maybe...

I'm doing an anthology right now as a pdf paperback - I think they work well, especially if they are linked by a theme as the last Enterprise one was that you did.

One thing for all to consider is an anthology of 25 TNG stories to celebrate the 25th anniversary of TNG! That's a lot of content though! Maybe if I trawled the Alt-Trek message boards for old material and contacted the authors?

There are a number of large, active Trek groups on Second Life, and most of them have fairly impressive sims.  There's one called the International Federation of Trekkers that stems from a real life group I think, that is some sort of all-encompassing group, and a bunch of individual "fleets" that do role playing all over the SL grid and even the Hypergrid.  They host parties all the time, and I know of at least one that will host outside parties for a small fee.

My personal space in SL isn't Star Trek specifically, though it certainly is influenced by old-school Trek, but rather is a generic retro-futurist style area, sort of like these people:  http://thevenusproject.com

That's them! The International Federation of Trekkers - they're the people who bought TrekUnited so, in theory they should be approachable about this. To be fair, they've never involved themselves in TrekUnited, even though I've offered to promote stuff they have - they were good enough to foot the bill when Tim Brazil hit the silk. I've seen graphics of skins of people who have been to Second Life "Balls" which look very impressive.

This is a series of stories from the life and career (and maybe
ancestors) of a Klingon that I've been writing for almost twenty
years.... I've written him his a Lieutenant, fighting in "The General
War" to a grizzled General in the post TNG era.... he would be a
little younger than Kang Kor and Koloth, so an old man, but still with
a career. I have lots of material. But right now I have no working
computer. So compiling is the issue... and of course no spare time,
I've just enlisted help from someone to write and pitch my first spec
script...
