Expansion of TrekUnited Publishing into ePub and Mobi editions is going to be the mainstay of this year's Twelve Trek Days, going into it in detail...

   - General introduction to the eBooks: What is a pdf, an ePub and a Mobi
27/12/12 - Fan Music
   - Re-release Treasures as new edition on Issuu, ePub for Nook & mobi for Kindle
28/12/12 - Fan Audio Drama
   - Re-release Night Whispers 1 as new edition on Issuu, ePub for Nook & mobi for Kindle
29/12/12 - Fan Podcasts
   - Re-release Emergence as new edition on Issuu, ePub for Nook & mobi for Kindle
30/12/12 - Adult Trek
   - Release Adult Anthology as pdf on Issuu and hopefully ePub and Mobi
31/12/12 - (New Years Eve) Fan Comics
   - Release Tales of the Fleet 3 as pdf on Issuu
01/01/13 - (New Years Day) Fan Gaming
   - Release FSA 1 - Damn The Torpedoes as pdf on Issuu, ePub for Nook & mobi for Kindle
02/01/13 - Fan Films
   - Release Night Whispers 2 as pdf on Issuu, ePub for Nook & mobi for Kindle
03/01/13 - Fan Modelling
   - Release ?
04/01/13 - Trekzines
   - Release ?
05/01/13 - IDIC
   - Release ?

This is all pretty fluid at the moment - the order that things happen in, the dates, the possibility of additional releases...

With regards to the look, as things stand I've got a Blogger account with last year's template, this is something I'll not have time to involve myself in, the fall-back is either this or another Blogger template but ideally it would be best to have someone admin our Blogsite, maybe with a Wordpress or custom template.

Gotta go!

Next year - when there is time - I strongly suggest we switch over to Wordpress. It is a lot easier to make pretty, and there are a lot of already-done templates out there. But later.

Sincerely,

Janet

There are all sorts of things that could be done with more manpower and resources - it could become an online convention! - but it will always suffer from people thinking of it as someone else's project rather than a shared opportunity for them to shine as a group!

Last night's (this morning's) ePub was made by “Adding” the OO odt file to Calibre but I decided that the best way might be to go …
ODT    >    HTML        >    EPUB via SIGIL    >    MOBI via CALIBRE
One caveat here is that I tried to export the odt file from OO as an xhtml file following on the advice that, since eBook files are actually xhtml files packaged different ways. Unfortunately I got consistent errors that made me give up and just use <Save As> <html>

I followed the online tutorial in the Sigil User Guide (surprisingly good) to weed out the formatting that caused problems in the ePub file (my full notes are on Dropbox) and I'm close to having a new pdf edition as well as the ePub edition. The ePub is now in my Public Dropbox at <https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19918020/Bruffy1-Treasures-120828a.epub> Need to delete the two page breaks between the the cover and the Promotional text and add page breaks where they are needed in the front matter (I've fixed the line space error in the quotation formatting).

Taking a break to do some chores

As at the close of business tonight the only remaining problems I can find are blank pages between the TitlePage & FrontMatter files/Pages and the FrontMatter and the Table of Contents files/pages.

The final draft of the ePub can be seen at <https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19918020/Bruffy1-Treasures-120828d.epub>

I'll see if the MobileRead forum can help me fix that last problem.

I'll complete the formatting of the Adult Anthology and Night Wishes 2 over next week - I needed two solid days to teach myself how to create ePubs, its html with a minimum amount of CSS - April if you get a chance have a think about what characters you want on your cover

Cheers
