Book 3- "Assignment:Yesterday" just topped 700- it's at 701. Counting the numbers at Tamerlane, the story's had over a thousand views- That doesn't include all the other sites either.

View Counts

Reversal - 115 on Issuu; 3392 on Ad Astra; 1624 on TU
Intolerance - 60 on Issuu; 2176 on Ad Astra; 598 on TU
Together - 2883 on Ad Astra; 1003 on TU
Temper - 1040 on Ad Astra; 823 on TU
Fortune - 1076 on TU (not yet on Ad Astra)

It's the warmer stuff (at least from me) that gets the most readers. I suppose Reed's nutty girlfriend into mild S & M, and the Empress's hijinks are of less interest than Doug and Lili getting together, marrying, and then reaching the ends of their lives.

#s for Times of the HG Wells are down considerably but those were over the summer when the pace at TU was glacial.

At some point, I suppose I'll put these on TrekBBS and Fanfiction.net as well. As for TrekEmpire, it's a ghost town there. Not a lot of reason to post there yet.

Sincerely,

Janet

Congratulations to both of you! Perhaps what is most stunning is the difference between the Issuu hits and the Ad Astra hits for your works, Jespah! I'm wondering if it is the niche audience at Ad Astra or if it might be the way that they view them: were they released a section at a time as they were on TU? If so you would have got a hit every time a reader read a section, maybe 8-10 hits per reader per book.

Perhaps the thing to get from this is to develop a niche with our website and releasing fiction as serials on a weekly basis. Let me have a think about that last one.

How's the next issue coming, Madison - do you want to put a teaser/Advert in this issue of Personal Logs for it?

Thanks! And yes, it was all released a chapter at a time, but not every chapter was read as it came out (I noticed read counts would sometimes go up in spurts). I dunno if you look at the chapter count info on AA (TDE has virtually identical fanfic submission software), but for most things there is a big interest in the first chapter and then it tapers off. To my mind, it means the most to see who hung in there until the bitter end, when it comes to the longer works.
Reversal - Chapter 1 - 125 reads; chapter 35 - 92 reads
Intolerance - Chapter 1 - 144 reads; chapter 19 - 85 reads
Together - Chapter 1 -  148 reads; chapter 32 - 75 reads
Temper - Chapter 1 -  80 reads; chapter 28 - 22 reads (in all fairness, this one was released relatively recently)

I've also released Crackerjack there - Chapter 1 - 21 reads; chapter 8 - 12 reads (total: 126 views)

My only other multi-chapters are stories not even really hinted at yet on TU, called
Take Back the Night - Chapter 1 - 135 reads; chapter 13 - 96 reads (total: 1442 views)
Hold Your Dominion - Chapter 1 - 120 reads; chapter 7 - 117 reads (total: 806 views)

Hold Your Dominion probably held its readership better because it wasn't ENT; it was about the Breen Attack on Earth, so it's DS9 more or less.

Sincerely,

Janet

Just quickly before I hit the sack - You can see the same dramatic drop-off in numbers when you click pages on the Issuu statistics. For example Personal Logs 1 has 346-354 for pages 1-6 then it plumets to 77hits on p7 but holds close to that number dropping off gradually to 32hits on p76.

I take this to mean that we had roughly 370 "browsers" who just scanned the first few pages then left
