The reports that Starfleet Intelligence received, created and processed on a daily basis were, without over stating things, massive. This is why Chris was thankful for the dozens if not hundreds of individuals working through this information before it ever came within sight of him. Oh sure he was able to access every bit of information but only select items were flagged for his personal attention. These were either items he tagged himself to monitor or ones his Deputy Chief believed needed his input in some way.
Reviewing these reports had been how he had spent the majority of his day so far. He was at least able to sit on the balcony outside his office overlooking San Francisco bay.
He found a number of items he would have to follow up on, some may even require some more direct intervention but further analysis would need to be done first. This however was just some catching up and burning time before the real fun part of his day started.
As if on cue his assistant stuck her head outside, "Admiral, the Viminal reports they are ready to depart whenever you are."
Chris stood up almost immediately and took the couple padds back inside, "I'm ready now." he swung by his desk to send some quick notes about some of what he'd reviewed to his Deputy and then walked out with his assistant.

Douglas stepped onto the bridge of the Viminal once again with Lindsay close on his heels. The requisite 'Admiral on deck' routine followed with him quickly waving everyone back to their work.
"Admiral," the chip's XO, Captain Bennington, addressed his superior as he approached, "We are cleared to leave orbit and Earth Spacedock is currently clearing the Ghosts from the dock as we speak."
Chris nodded and sat down, "Good. Let's rendezvous with them and get under way."
Captain Bennington nodded and turned to the helm, "Helm, break orbit and set course out of the system. Inform the Ghosts to meet up with us past the asteroid belt."
While the crew worked on getting things under way, Chris returned to the padd he kept with him and read a bit more. Before long they were past the asteroid belt and he looked up to see four Nova-class ships falling into formation with the Viminal.
As far as anyone was concerned they were just your every day Nova-class scout ships with the latest available technology. The truth was a bit more interesting but that was closely guarded. A quick look between the Admiral and Captain indicated all was ready.
"Synchronize slipstream drives with the rest of the fleet." Chris ordered and received the acknowledgement, "Set course for Starbase Zetari. Engage when ready."
Chad canted his head slightly, "I thought we were going to Starbase 514."
"We will be, however we will be leaving one of the ships at Zetari and the rest will be stationed at 514." Chris explained, "At least that will be their initial assignments, Alpha Fleet Command may want to redeploy them depending on how situations develop over there."
With that little detail covered the Admiral looked back to the screen in time to watch them enter slipstream on their way to the Gamma quadrant.
