Hi everyone,
Continuing with the success from Rice College
Leadership Workshop (CLW), we are going to host another CLW at the University of
Houston on November 17, 2007. This workshop gears more towards inner-city
high school students and parents, whom were under-represented at the
Rice-CLW. The format will also a bit different. It will last only 3
hours from 1:00pm to 4:00pm plus the additional tour. Each workshop is 45
minutes long with 15 minutes of presentation and 30 minutes for questions and
answers. There will be three workshops: Choosing the right
college/College application process, Scholarship and Financial Aid, and
Volunteer. Also, unlike Rice-CLW, after the 15 minute presentation, we
will have a panel of 4-6 people for the Q&A. Rice VSA has agreed to
take care of the presentation, now we need leaders to be on the panel to answer
questions.
Many of us here have had experience with CLW
through Rice so it would be great if we can bring this experience and apply it
again at the UH-CLW. If you haven't had a chance to participate in CLW,
this would be a time to start. As such, if you would like to be a panel
member, please reply and let me know. Please include your phone number and
which workshop topic (Choosing the right college, scholarship, or Volunteer) you
would like to participate in. I have attached the schedule, flyer, and
faqs for your covenience.
One last note, we really need help outreaching so
if you would forward the flyer to all high-school students that would
great or if you have time and do not mind going from door to door throughout the
villages (la`ng) around Houston to advertise for this workshop, please let me
know. The more people we have the more students we can reach.
Thanks, everyone
