How to move to system tray when closing?

[N7DR]

1. Running debian bullseye; installed treesheets from the official debian bullseye repository.

2. Looking for a replacement for basKet, which treesheets looks like it can do easily.

3. But I don't see how to configure treesheets to appear in the system tray when it closes (like basKet does).

When I close treesheets, no matter the state of the "minimize to tray" and "minimize on close" options, it always minimizes to the taskbar, not the system tray.

So what do I need to do to have it minimize as I want, to the system tray?

Not sure, works on other systems, maybe window manager dependent?

Also, do not recommend getting it from an OS repo, those tend to be way behind.

I've used twin for the past decade or so. I've not encountered any prior
issues with programs not going to the system tray when they're closed (when
they're supposed to go there).

My hard-won painful experience has been that there's a high probability that
I'll regret it when I install programs that aren't part of the official
distribution. The official version of treesheets in debian 11, according to
the "About" box, is 1.0.2, and I now see that the copyright date is... 2009!!

There's just been a new release of debian within the past week, so I think
I'll remove treesheets for now, and try it again once I've updated to debian 12.

This is just FYI:

I just tested this with a fully up-to-date installation of debian stable using
KDE (instead of TDE, which is my normal desktop).

The behaviour is the same as with TDE: regardless of settings, treesheets does
not minimize/close to the system tray.

And it looks like the version in the new release of debian (bookworm) is the
same, old version as in bullseye.

I have contacted the treesheets maintainer for debian to ask him to package a
more recent version, but have received no reply. So treesheets seems, as far
as debian is concerned, to be an abandoned package, stuck at a long-superceded
version :-(
